turn the crank around so all the piston sit half way down, pour in some, petrol or oil

and leave over night.

 

check in the morning to see if fluid is still there, easy way to check rig seal

Well the engine is out and piston 3 is looking a bit rough :sad:

is that scores in the bore on the left hand side, and chips , or is it water marks?

 

the top of the piston, doesnt look that bad, just the valve recess you are seeing, along with some gasket residue

 

 

you not rebuilding it, while its apart?

Been degreasing stuff today shame i forgot to get a before pic of the engine bay but it was thick black sludge :tongue:

 

But here it is ready to be prepped for spraying :smile:

I have the engine it has sat for a while but came out of a 40-50k mile C or D reg turbo that was a write off :biggrin: Its like new it is unreal so happy with it all for £100 he also might have a ECU and complete loom for it thrown in :happy:

 

It will be painted white too and cleaned up to a decent standard the turbo is in better condition than mine and has the water cooling pipes which are hard to get cheap :smile:

good to see you doing the engine bay mate, looks a little worse for wear, your not holding back on it, good man :salut_gb:

 

i shall be keeping an eye on what your doing with the engine bay, as there my next plans :rolleyes::biggrin:

It's something I have wanted to do but just haven't got round to it so while its like it is I'll clean it up will make it a better looking car at the end of the day :smile:

 

And I might fit my chrome turbo housing if I can sat on a shelf for far too long lol :biggrin:

Do as much as you can before you put engine in m8 it will look alot better.....you need Basilbear over there she loves cleaning :laugh::laugh::laugh:
