Piece of piss mate if its the same as mk4, the hardest bit i found was fitting the bit of loom between the car and the door, that and finding the plug to connect the windows/mirrors n central locking too, lol

Aren't your electric window/mirrors etc is a separate loom to your ignition loom so why don't u just replace it?

It's bad enough connecting the plugs inside the speaker kickplate without having to fit your own connectors, you can just about run the loom with dials, g-box n fan switches out the dash, had to fit all that to my 'D' plate cabi as it started life as a 1.6i manual everything.

I do admit i'm assuming mk3 cabi electrics are a similar layout to the mk4 for windows etc at least

Your going to have fun finding a decent mk3 cabi shell if you do go that route, i know of a 1.6 mk3 but it's been sitting ages and i don't know if the shell would be any good

Soo.... I have most of the electrics working now got all lights working no more flat battery troubles, Just need to do electric windows and central locking then fit the alarm back in.

The real trouble is the horn connection to the steering wheel it feels like its not touching the contacts on the column and is a pain in the arse. And the fuel gauge which I have a solution to but requires the tank to drop to access the loom under the seat. Got rid of the little patch of rust where I stabbed my bonnet with a screwdriver.

Will tax it 1st of April  and sort out whatever needs to be finished when I can be arsed.

Took her out for the first time today running bloody lovely smile.gif but two problems:

1: I think the rev counter is reading wrong as it is going up quite fast and just dont feel right according to the speed i am doing.

2: Steering column bush might be worn I think as the steering wheel feels loose.

But apart from that it's good to drive it again loved every 5 mins of it. smile.gif

 little problem somewhere with a live wire I am sure touching something now and then. As the cab cut out the other day whilst driving it and could instantly smell burning wire but it stopped as quick as it started and was 5 secs from parking it up anyway took battery off and its sat there since as crap weather to work on it.
