  1. Hi Roof and windows operate on a seperate circut and have differneent fuses. Are you deffo sure it is the switch?
  2. What sort of mpg are you getting at the mo?
  3. Hi, I got my fluid from a vw dealer. Fluid number part G002 000 or G004 (as it may have been superseeded). £8 for 1 litre. On the top of the pump is a hex bolt. Remove this and you then need to use a funnel of similar to get the fluid in. Haynes manual gives good advice on how to bleed the system. Hope this helps.

    Curious

I put my all blue though an automatic car wash once, back in 2001-ish. It was ok to be honest. The most scary part was at the time, I had an RS bonnet. As soon as I drove out you could see the steam escaping through the vents Was ok though. ButwWouldn't recommend on a car with excellent paintwork though.
  5. Nice find What I don't understand is if it's a german import, why the car is right hand drive?
  6. Hi, Congrats on the MOT pass. Usually in my case, it was a leaf stuck in the air vents themselves. I just used to have it on full blow and fiddle with the air vent dials to free it. The blower itself is at the back of the engine bay. You don't have to remove any heater coolant hoses to get at it though.
  7. Liking the retro with the rattlesnake kit. Stands out from the crowds in a tasteful way and a lot better than a lot of modern bodykits. Nice interior too Would agree about that red strip along the boot, does not look right.
  8. Hi, Maybe it just a dried leaf/leaves stuck? And just needs a good clean out - air ducts and blower motor location. Good luck for the mot.
  9. Top work gone into her John, Well Done! Look forward to seeing the final result
  10. Is that only 12,000 miles from new? Wow thats low mileage. Shouldn't have too may issues to sort out in terms of rust, etc.
  11. Many thanks, I understand some people cut the GTI skirts so they don't stick out too much on a cabby. But yes, the real deal is a lot better!
  12. Most people refer to the GTI/RS2K skirts as the RS skirts, and the ones such as mine as 'RS accessory' ones. Ford made a RS accessory bodykit for the Escort cabriolet, which was a factory fitted optional extra on MK6 cabriolets. The RS accessory skirts as part of this kit bear the RS logo and are designed to fit flush against the cabrio sills.
  13. Mine has the RS skirts and full RS bodykit factory fitted. But mine is standard from new and has the original wheelset. There is a yellow MK6 on ebay with the full RS kit like mine, but it appears to have been shunted from behind, as the rear bumper is justa a normal one.

    My Xr3I Cabby

Hi and welcome. Whoa, I like your cabby. Paintwork looks like new and in one of the best colours too. Is the speedo saying 44km from new?
  16. Don't think rams can be fixed, but check out the other points first and rams last as you have to take the rear cards out to inspect them.,
  17. Hi, The tap is the bypass valve that allows you to open and close the roof manually should the pump fail. Closing the tap seals the system, thus allowing the hydraulics to function as they should. Areas to check: Hydraulic rams behind the rear cards, leaks from the seals, etc. Roof frame to ensure in is not bent. The plastic cog inside the pump (known to break)

    Mk5 1993

Hi, Nice cabrio. Do like the colour. Thats the best thing about cabrios, it;s like having two cars for the price of one. When the sun come out and the roof goes down, it's like driving a different car
  19. Hi, Mk6 ones should still ber available from the local Ford dealer.
  20. Hi and Welcome It may fit but it would look out of place as the mk6 bootlid moulding is different to the mk5. Alsowith the lighting arrangement too, within the mk7 bootlid. How about a spolier with the third brake light built in?
  21. Two possible things: Heater motor itself has packed up or Your fusebox is starting to show signs of packing up. Fusebox issues are noturious on mk5&6's due to poor circut build quality. Usually the first circut to go is the heater blower circut. Other circuts wil soon fail though. Thats what happened to mine.
  22. If it is any consolation, I brought a Gen Ford windscreen rubber from Ford in 2002 and had it fitted by the bodyshop in 2004 after the respray. Six months later and the bloody rubber stated cracking around the edges!!! The aftermarket one I had previously was a lot better.
  23. Thanks, These cars never had a rear spolier as standard and they wern't on the factory fit options list either. Your spoiler could have been fitted by the dealer after delivery new (purchased via the Ford accessories catolouge and fitted and painted by the dealer) or a previous owner had it fitted.
  24. This the new roof I had fitted onto my car.
  25. My original roof had gone grey-ish, but you could still see patches of blue. Pollution and sun damage, I would have thought would have contributed in the blue colour being lost over time.
