  1. Hey Stu, Sorry to hear and see your car advertised as spares.
  2. Double check you have the correct EFI specific rev counter. Using an MFi counter will cause the RPM to under read, I know this because I have fitted an MFI rev counter in mine, as it was in better condition (white markings had flaked off). It under reads, but i've gotten used to it now. Got a brand new efi rev counter to fit in it's place thou.
  3. Hi Sorry for the delay, have been on holiday. The all-blue started out in Germany, late 1989 as a "luxury model" special edition. Probably intended to go head to head with the VW Golf Cabrio. The model was only introduced to the UK in late April/May 1990, to coincide with the 100,000th Escort Cabrio leaving the Karmann production line. Unlike the German equivalent, only 600 of this model was introduced to the UK. UK spec featured all options, bar the ABS and 2007 radio/graphic as standard equipment. The UK model did not have the RS rear spoiler, whilst the German version did. The All-blues were produced between Dec 1989 to May 1990. The majority would have been in the earlier period. This includes the UK models which would have been sat on a compound for many months before being released for sale - Apr/May as earlier mentioned. Despite only 600 coming to the UK, there is no unique numbering to these cars. I have copies of both Fast Ford and Performance Ford from 1990 which show the original press release from Ford, and both articles state 600 models introduced to the UK. The marker of the chassis number on the roll bar is not unique to the all blue, all escort cabrios's have this. This number is the engine number (two letters followed by a five digit code). The engine number is the only part of the full chassis number unique to each cabrio.. Regards to your car: I assume the date stamps you are referring to are the dates on the front wing and scuttle panel? This engine number on the roll bar should also be on your engine cylinder block, is this the case, or has someone removed this? Also, what about the chassis number etched by the drivers seat. Has this been removed on yours? Regards to when these were actually registered, by either buyers or dealers, the period would be approx April 1990 to May 1991. As there is a mix of G & H reg All-Blues about. Again, hard to gauge, as they would have been registered as a escort cabriolet, xr3i cabriolet or escort SVP cabriolet on the v5. So nothing unique to indicate its an all-blue.
  4. most likely, Reminds me when I had mine done, the motor factor supplied incorrect rear springs. Made my car look like a drag racer.
  5. That article is an extract from the Fast Ford All-blue buying guide article from July 2000. I have the mag somewhere. But that article is part incorrect and some of their facts are wrong.
  6. Very tidy, I like it a lot. Meaning to get the rear arches done on mine soon.
  7. Hi and welcome, That's one nice tidy car. Keep us updated with progress.:-)
  8. Volkswagen brought them out I believe
  9. Hi and welcome Without wanting to have a guess, I'd get engine diagnostics run on the car and see if that picks out any faults. But maybe have you thought about the coil pack?
  10. Hi I use a round post battery on my MK6 Escort. I got around the ancillary fusebox fitting by inverting the plate and it works sound with the round post converters.
  11. Some pics from today. Looking forward to some shows this year ;-)
  12. Mine is £60 per year Classic with agreed value. Lancaster Ins.
  13. Can I re-iterate that brake fluid (which is highly corrosive) should NOT be used in hydraulic systems other than the braking system. If it leaks it will strip your paintwork and make future work on the pump/hydraulic system more dangerous. Power steering fluid equivalents should only be used, such as the type I mentioned above.
  14. The part number of the rev counter at the back, should begin with 89xx ........ I have a new one of these somewhere so I will check the number and post it here.
  15. As Stu (Gingerman) says, additionally the rev counters between MFi an EFi are different. Using a MFI rev counter, the revs will under-read. You will need to get EFI specific clocks, as some clocks will have the fuel gauge the right way around, but have an MFI rev counter.
  16. No trimming required on the mk4 It is better to use the original spec fixing method on the rockers and bonding on the arches. The arches are unlikely to have their studs intact, unless you're very lucky!
  17. Actually, that should be pretty ok. Most of those decals are for your year of car anyway. In addition, you might also want the engine tuning decal (efi specific),timing cover sticker and the brake servo decal. Tremona garage (the trader I mentioned above - but couldn't remember their name earlier), do excellent replicas.
  18. No SE cabrios were in mercury grey. Yours is regular xr3 mfi. But the SE designation was just marketing lingo. Nothing really unique about SE models.
  19. dents on wing tops - engine hoist block support not supported properly?
  20. Aha! And there was me thinking I could have that for 60 quid ;-) Never mind John, saved you the trip down south :-) Sorry to hijack your post Rob, did your ford dealer confirm if they were able to get the rear weatherstrips?
  21. metal plate - the five digit number is the engine number. This should match the number on the cylinder block, unless the engine has been changed. Stickers - a guy that trades at many a ford show does different sets for the correct year. You really need the xr3i set, the link Stu has posted is fo the rs turbo.
  22. Yep, that is the one. All genuine Ford, with the stickers intact. Will store that for later.
  23. You wish Dennis! LOL Picked up a new rear wing - drivers side over the weekend too. Rob 90 spec, good luck with the resto. Saw you other thread. You car is in pretty good condition to start with. Is it really 53 pounds for a plastic outer handle?
  24. Yep full set Outer front RH *3 Inner fronts LH/RH - Gen Ford ones are different to the outer ones. Outer rears LH/RH Inner rears LH/FH Windscreen rubber *2 Rear window rubber *1 A pillar rubber strips LH/FH 2 * Door strip end plugs. All gen Ford. Mind you the rear ones were expensive at £40 pound each (back in 2004). The front ones and inners were more reasonably priced at around £10 each (2004). Washer hose clips and bonnet stay clip may still be available from Ford.
  25. I've still got a full set of gen Ford ones.
