  1. Hiya My new blue roof came from one of the car hood fitting places in London. Thought any hood specialist should be able to supply a blue roof?
  2. Great looking car Nice to see a totally standard All-blue with low mileage. Do you only take it out in the summer? Mines only been out a handful of times this year.
  3. Some great work there John!

    Bodykit

Mk6 cabriolets don't look to good standard without a bodykit, so you're on the right track. How about the MK6 cabriolet RS accessories pack. This was a factory fitted optional extra and includes the skirts, rear bumper and colour coded grille. Brightens up the MK6 no doubt, Nice subtle kit thats not in your face and Gen Ford too.
  5. Hiya and welcome! Best of luck restoring the cabby. How is she doing body wise in terms of rust, etc. Post up some progress pics as there is nothing better than a restoration thread.
  6. Hi and welcome, Are you sure the rubber is not going brittle? If it's deposits inside the hoses and the hoses look to be in good nick, you could try a pipe cleaner to clean them out. Replacing them may not always be possible, especially if Ford do not stock the parts anymore.
  7. Agree with Lee81 on this. Can't imaging someone trying to go through the trouble of bypassing immob/alarm to nick a mk6 cabrio. Market values are low and bits are not in demand, compared to the mk4 xr3i cabrios. Your damaged car looks pretty superficial. Did you consider buying it back from the insurance co?
  8. Not too sure about the price. Could buy another Mk4 for that dosh.
  9. Hiya, and welcome Wow! That is one nice n' tidy cabrio. Have you owned it long?
  10. Hiya Stu, Yes you're right, off ebay. Spent a 8 hour round trip driving to Wales to pick it up last weekend Very easy. Using the attachmemnts just remove the black plastic blanking covers from the a & b pillars and fit the rails and mountings. Roof bars just sit onto the rails and are bolted down. Took me 15 mins to put on the cab. Best part about it is that the hinges at the front, So when you want to open/close roof, you can hinge forward roof rack towards the windscreen. Spend almost 3 years searching the net for one, so was well chuffed to come accross this for sale.
  11. Hiya all, Well, as it was a nice hot sunny day today, though I'd try and install my new roof rack (Gen Ford). It's not every day you see a cabriolet with a bike on the roof! :banana_dance:
  12. Hiya, Does your pump have a plastic black outer cylinder casing? It may likley be the plastic cog inside the unit which has failed. Common problem involving mk6's with these pumps.
  13. If you're getting judder when accelerating then it could be CV (usually an inner one) joint.
  14. Hello & welcome, Nice to see another cabriolet being saved. Lucky you guys don't have to worry much about rust, unlike us guys (and gals) here in blighty! Keep the progress photos coming. Good too see.
  15. Cheap as chips! Some good bargins going around. Recently got a full All blue leather interior (two front seats & two rear seats & 2 doorcards all in pretty good cond) for £16.
  16. Hiya, Not sure where people get the idea 500 were made. Make no financial sense for a company to do this. Especially for an outgoing model, which was beginning to look pretty dated in 1990. 600 were brought to the UK in Apr 1990, to celebrate the 100,000th cabriolet rolling off the production line. However the car was already on sale in Europe (Germany in particular since late 1989) as a luxury cabriolet, probably to compete with the Golf. From production stats on this site, approx 4,000 Pacifica blue cabriolets were constructed. No numbering as far as I'm aware. Hope this helps.
  17. Hi, Local Ford dealer will be able to sort one out if available.
  18. The cog is only £17 from vw dealers, less than half the price of ebay ones! Whilst you are there too, get some of their fluid for the pump. It's only £7 for 1/2 a litre. Good luck!
  19. Ford don't sell the part, but I understand VW do. The fluid housing cracking and the internal plastic cog breaking are two common faults with the pumps. VW and Escorts share the same pump.
  20. Sorry, let me correct myself. According to the advertising, certain Ford dealers were offering the Turbo Technics conversion to 130bhp, when placing you order for a new cabriolet.
  21. Ford directly did not release any Turbo cabriolets, probably due to pricing. However in 1989- Turbo Technics converted some cabriolets and these were sold as new cars through Ford dealers. Maybe this is where the confusion comes from. However these were regualr cabriolets, without any other special features such as Leater recaros, etc. I have some ford dealer advertising of the Turbo Technics Escort cabriolets, dated 1989, which I'll bring along to FF. Hope this helps!
  22. Hiya Steve, Sorry to hear about Billy. Thats some serious corrosion damage, I'm surprised last years MOT guy didn't pick up something was wrong But glad to see you're back in another cab. Looks really nice in white!!
  23. Correct, The wood facia is held tightly with retaining clips behind the dash. Subtle pulling pressure will soon release it though. But be careful when you pull on the fasica. The retaining clips at the back have a habit of shooting off into the dash.
  24. Is you car a mk4? How did you plug the speaker wires into the head unit? The 2007 radios fitted to mk4's do not have the amplifier circutry built in, that part is either in the seperate amp or graphic equaliser. You will also need the DIN cable that connects the two units together and the loom to power the amp/graphic.
  25. Does your car have ABS? Are you using a pressure bleeding kit such as Gunson's? Csn you describe the procudure you have used to bleed brakes.
