  1. All done mate, as of yesterday. Will be taxing her over the weekend. Still having idle issues which I will look at over the weekend. How did yours get on today?
  2. Ok, quick update, Failed on headlamp aim to low, rear brake binding on one side, front wheel bearing and rear pipes corroded. Not too bad considering she has been laid up for 4 years. Goit it booked in for a wheel bearing change and the other three I am sorting myself. Hopefully she'll be legal come next week!
  3. Thanks! Whats left to do with your car before the MOT?
  4. No mate, Thats my trusty daily steed!
  5. Neath hill autos. MK MOT in Kiln Farm is good. I used them to MOT my Orange cab eariler this year. Only reason why I am not sending the blue one there is because I don't want to drive her too far, as she has been dormant for 4 years.
  6. How about some genuine Ford MK6 Cabriolet side skirts. Designed specifically for the cabriolet, they were an optional extra. Check out my Orange cab in the Garage section for pics of these.
  7. Got MOT tomorrow on mine, just hoping she passes, otherwise ts more £££. Reinsured mine yesterday too under an agreed val classic car poilcy for £130.
  8. No probs , let us know how you get on. Just remember to take a photo of the fusebox so you know where the fuses and links need to go when refitting the box. Also check each and every solder joint on the board. Look for any faint black cracks and apply new solder to these joints. There is also a post in the tutorials section on soldering tips which may come in handy.
  9. Stu, Car is looking amazing. I am looking forward to see the car at Ford Fair.
  10. look up my post on repairing fusebox in the tutorials section. for the price of a soldering iron and solder you can tackle this yourself
  11. Hi Stuart, I'm going to use one in Neath Hill as that is not too far from me. Not sure what they are like though. Do you know of any good MOT garages? I was pretty chuffed yesterday, drove the car out of the garage for the first time yestrday
  12. If you are getting live to the passengers side, have you tried examining the connectors that connect to the motor? Sometimes corrosion builds up in them or they break internally.
  13. Looking good Its never fun having to put a car back together, I remember when I did mine. But once its all done it'll be worthwile.
  14. Plenty of hard work going on there, keep it up Skippy is going to look nice and fresh once back together
  15. Nice one Stuart! Just waiting for the rain to clear away now. Yes, will be on club stand hopefully.
  16. Go down to your vw/audi dealer. Circa 7 quid for a litre's worth.
  17. Good stuff, These guys always go out of their way to locate those tricky parts. I've been ordering parts from these guys since 1998. Was in there last weekend, those Focus RS's have taken over the showroom.
  18. Guys These roof repair kits are available from vw/audi dealers for only £17. I brought one from my local. Vw cabs used the same roof pump as Escort Cabrio. The broken cogs syndrome is more prevailant in the roof pump with the black cylinder body, which was fitted to Escort cabs >Oct 96 onwards. This was due to to manufacturing fault in these later pumps. The repair kit is made by PowerPacker Inc (who manufactured these pumps and literally all roof pumps for all cars). Its a shame Ford never sold these kits. Also a problem with these later pumps was the plastic end-caps splitting. Vw dealers sell these replacement caps too.
  19. If you try Ford, Nick and Kevin at Ford Kingston MK, parts dept are very good.
  20. Thanks guys, Quick update, fitted alternator back in along with an earth strap from alternator to chassis. Battery light comes on now! Thanks to Paul for the help regarding this Weekend job is to sort the base idle and fingers crossed, book an MOT.
  21. Now I've just got the 'fun' of putting the alternator back in! And I thought re-bleeding the brakes last weekend was bad enough! The joys of resto projects
  22. Imperial Blue cabriolet, nice
  23. Ruddy hell, I'm wondering how I missed this thread! Thats some fantastic work going on there. Hope you finish in time for FF.

    My Mk6 Cab

Hi and welcome to MK6 cabriolet ownership. You car looks good, is it Imperial Blue? And those wheels are pretty tasty. I was going to say why do you want to remove the 'wood effect' trim? But I think that's me getting old
