so i might take a look at tracking the wiring back on the SI loom and run that as its a deffo 115ps so got to be quicker than the 90ish that in at the minute?

Also sat down with the 115ps SI loom over the weekend and desifered what the pinouts are on the bulkhead connection plug, so i now have an either or option as i might go for the more powerful of the 2 options and take the 115 route rather than the 105 but as i have won some 2.0 cams on the bay and have read that the 115 ecu will give better results with them fitted its all pushing more towards the newer ecu.

Well out with the old and in with the new as they say...... :banana_dance:

All in all i had a good 6-7hrs at a leisurly pace the rain held of and the old cvh is now no more. :salut_gb:

So with the old engine out its was time to drag out the si engine i had as the td xantia has scranned the turbo yesterday so could not go and pick up the engine that went with the loom so had to convert the si one to the older style inlet etc.

Photo-0420.jpg

then stripped of all unused parts such as PAS,zetec alternator and bracket mk6 engine mount, old clutch etc,etc

so ready to start to build up. :banana_dance:

You can use the cvh alternator and it bracket straight off the cvh engine but you need to swap the zetec alternator pulley wheel over to the cvh alternator, mine had to have a keyway filed into it to get it onto the shaft, then fitted the older alloy inlet complete with injectors and wiring just for ease rather than start swapping bits n bobs to try and use the plastic inlet that was fitted just trying to replicate exactly what was in the mk5 escort engine bay that it all came from originally just so i have no probs.

Photo-0422.jpg

then fitted the new £20 clutch just seems daft not to while its all out the clutch that was on the old cvh would have done but new is better ain't it?

Photo-0423.jpg

As i did not have any free hands to take pics while trying to get the engine in i sadly had to take the pics once it was in, then a few more of the gradual build up of all the random parts that were left off for ease of fitting.

Rite well not a lot visually happening today as i had to do a pinout chart for the 12pin bulkhead loom again as the old one i was going to use was for a 1995 on with internal pats but this one is external edis and non pats.

Well as it goes for the people considering doing this sort of thing the chart goes like this:

92FB-12A650-CD 2FBCD ECU:

12PIN BULKHEAD CONNECTOR:

PIN1 COIL +12V FUSED (BLACK)

PIN2 FUEL PUMP RELAY EARTH TRIGGER PIN22 ON ECU (BROWN)

PIN3 REV COUNTER TACHO PIN4 ON ECU (GREEN)

PIN4 OCTANE ADJUST PIN29 ON ECU (BROWN/WHITE)

PIN5 ENGINE CONTROL RELAY PIN37,57 ON ECU AND POWER FOR ALL SENSORS (BLACK/GREEN)

PIN6 OIL PRESSURE SWITCH (BROWN/GREEN)

PIN7 CONSTANT +12V FOR ECU MEMORY (RED)

PIN8 HEGO (LAMBDA) +12V FUSED 15A (BLACK/RED)

PIN9 ENGINE TEMP SENDER (BROWN/WHITE)

PIN10 AIRCON TRIGGER PIN10 ON ECU (BLACK/WHITE)

PIN11 AIRCON TRIGGER PIN54 ON ECU (BROWN/GREEN)

PIN12 NOT USED

Having never done the full zetec conversion before i dont know if i need to ground the pin 10 or pin 53 to stop the engine over reving when on tick over, but i guess we will see.

but the main engine loom is now round the engine bay and everything is now plugged in.

my mistake what i should have said was:

Having never done the full zetec conversion before i dont know if i need to ground the ecu pin 28 (PAS sensor) or not to stop the engine over reving when on tick over, but i guess we will see.

I knew that the battery tray would need a look at at some point in time as i managed to poke a hole down the edge of it a while a go with a screw driver, just never relised how much rust was actually around it scary thing is armed with only a pair of gloves and my hands i managed to remove it!!!!!

Photo-0430.jpg

So engine conversion on hold battery tray comes 1st.

Photo-0429.jpg

Sorted.

Well its not running yet but its getting really close now sorted the wiring side of things so far time will tell if its rite?

easiest way i thought was to keep the ecu where it would be on the 90spec xr3i's and keep the mk5 inner wing rubber boot just for a factory look if it was possible?

Photo-0431.jpg

Photo-0432.jpg

Photo-0433.jpg

then with almost all the wiring done and the light starting to run out only had time for a few more shots.

Photo-0434.jpg

then done just in time for tea.
