Guest gavintwopies Posted September 4, 2010 Share Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) Well i finally got round to swapping the mk3 heater box for the mk4 one... then after that i got cracking on the mk4 dash conversion with a bit of guidence off another website its a doddle. 1st on the agenda, get a bit excited with an angle grinder, after all the windscreen is knackerd so no need to worry about that !!!!! Guest gavintwopies Posted September 4, 2010 Share Posted September 4, 2010 well after fitting most of the heater vents tubing and having to drill and tap 3 m6 holes across the top of the bulkhead to match the dash its almost looks factory fit. beauty of drilling and tapping the 3 holes is they actually work and tighten up as they should and look std too. Guest gavintwopies Posted September 5, 2010 Share Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) just been putting the finishing touches to the back of the mk4 dash as when fitting it to a mk3 there is no mounting points for the windscreen heater vents so they need screwing to the back of the dash and sealing up , I used sticka flex windscreen sealant & b&q self 12mm tappers for that better than std seal. at this point i have nothing left to do to the dash bar let the sealant go off and re-fit the dash. Guest gavintwopies Posted September 9, 2010 Share Posted September 9, 2010 Well finally got a bit time to start putting the finished modified mk4 dash in and it fits like a glove just a few little niggly little bits i need to pick up now mk4 steering wheel, indicator screws etc,etc As you can see the normal routing of the mk3 loom is no good behind the mk4 dash so having the loom susspended on string off the hammerd flat metal tags does the trick. Its not going to be that camp you know its going to have a s1 kit fitted to it!!! just been looking into making myself some banned steels and going to try stretching some tyres too dont know how they will turn out but will deffo be with a look if there any good i might, thats a BIG might put some on the cabby. Guest gavintwopies Posted October 9, 2010 Share Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) Well a slight turn of events with the car turning pink, it all started when my missus stuck her daily driver megane td into some motorway slip road railings. then after the car was a total write off we had to go looking for an emergency replacment as she is a mobile carer for old people and the infirm. armed with just under £300 i had a challenge on, it had to have mot and some tax if any. and what do you know this reared its ugly face.........
