  13. Thanx don't know why I didn't think of the mondeo route so it's basically just plug and play will think about doing this over winter hope to find a mot failer don't like breaking good cars up but if needs must then I will
  14. After talking to Ian 71 about his white mk5 I am thinking of going down the same route but I am not in a desperate hurry as my 1.6 runs v v sweet and I have spent some money on it will now ask a few basic questions some May random stupid or daft but I only have a basic mechanic knowledge my car is a 1993 L reg 1600 zetec lump I know I would have to have use the ecu of the doner car would this be a plug and play in my car Or would I have to modify the rest of the loom would the downpipes be different and are the engine mounts the same on my current lump I have the rocker cover colour coded would this bolt straight on to the 1.8 it looks the same but are there any internal differences am I right in saying this is referred to as the silver top engine what is the latest escort I could use as a doner my theory is I am better buying a donner car then removing every thing then I know I have what I need how do you prove you are buying the 130bhp lump I do have a good mechanic but he said he needed the basic facts first sorry for the long list thanx in advance mark
  15. There is some one on ebay selling a quarter /sill panel mind you it's 2 nd hand been cut of another moter so god knows what sort of state it will be in good luck
  16. I would Defo be up for this but no good with technology well I can't up load pictures to this site so would have to give a picture at one of the shows or Ollie could chose from any he may have a good idea to acomadate all would be to have a couple of months of shows that have been attended this year a good picture idea would be one of each mk all lined up together
  17. A few people will know I have been debating about weather to get a wind deflector or not for a while after a few members advice and the final push from my sister I ordered it a week a go it has just arrived fitted it in between the rain storms and took it for a spin and I must say I was very impressed well exceeded my expectations looks amazeing took it on a open road at a fair speed no blowing or wind and you can now hold a conversion it was not cheap and me old man thinks I am nuts but to me it was worth every penny the only regret is I didn't get it sooner happy days
  18. I totally get what you are saying Ollie but still worth looking at the options then we can decide from there our cab don't go in to hibernation just gets used a whole lot less
  19. With all the shows coming up who would think it is a good ideA for us as a club to have a stand at the classic moter nec it is normally in November so with about 5 months to go it may be to late but I think it's worth some one in authority finding out least we wouldn't have to about the weather will watch this space with every ones thoughts
  20. If it got no major issues I would sell it may be even the friend borrowing it may buy it I believe in keeping them on the road rather than breaking them or less they are rotten
  21. Done enough talking and thinking about this and looking at other cars with them fitted so took the plunge to day went up the breakers yard and got two gas struts of a mondeo plus the four ball joints of a golf as it was the easiest and quickest car to take them of now just need to fit them watch this space will keep you posted mark
