Guest El87cabi
Just so everyone is aware, Stack gauges DO NOT FIT into aftermarket pods ffs Anywhoo Matt's been busy doing some stirling work on my spare head And just some icing on the cake.... Anyone know what's different about this throttle body?
Guest El87cabi
While Matt was busy preparing the head, i was up to my old tricks I'd sprung a leak - an oil leak - from a cracked sump This is sump no.1 before fitting by me I knew from the off something wasn't right about this but as Ford Fair was a stones throw away i had few options Few random under car shots
Guest El87cabi
Ooo lookie, clean enough to still see the rebuild date on my turbo 'box Kinda run outa light Sump on Off to Ford Fair Car outside my Mechanic's ready for sump no2 lol My idea of a 'fitted' oil pressure gauge lol End of year roof down shots, the stage 2 head is now on and working well. It also now runs on a Newman Cam and solid tappets Unfortunately now all the leaks on the top end have been plugged Matt has told me the old girl won't pass another mot as A. my cylinder pressure is appx 50psi per pot and B. my emissions are well out All i'm gonna say is if your behind me roll up the windows lmao. Time for a bottom end rebuild Edited April 23, 2014 by El87cabi

Guest El87cabi
That was works carried out last year, after a fair amount of driving and showing the Cabi came off the road in late august and i got back under the bonnet again for the next stage - and hired an engine crane again Rain Stopped play briefly Crane, check. Health and safety suporvisor, check. As you may be able to guess i could've done with more hands at this point, but where theres a will theres a way Up...... And out Not to shabby considering the muck it was pumping out the emissions breather Always useful to have a bit of timber floating around
Guest El87cabi
Two weeks later i'm off to my friend Matts for him to strip down and access the bottom end damage It appears no3 cylinder isn't all that well Of course we have another health and safety supervisor on site to ensure everything is done correctly Some rather manky pistons In a rather grubby block. Guest El87cabi
Now onto the section we needed to see. I broke the cambelt pulley flange helping Matt get it off the crank took some heating but eventually it came free Oil seals were eating into the crank both ends Scored pretty bad All done Course of action being taken, Block being decked, faced and rebored to accommodate new 0.29 oversized pistons, crank is being ground to stage 1, crank, con rods, pulley, flywheel and clutch cover are being lighten/balanced. With luck i'll be collecting it all from Power Units later
Guest El87cabi
Hey all, once again i've been snowed under with work, horse and home, at present i'm busily replacing my central heating from the boiler down while my horse is on box rest due to a puncture wound on his hock. Loving every minute (not) Neway, after Matt finding himself in need of a new fence after Dan backed into it, we decided to exchange our skills instead of cash so free fence build for free bottom end rebuild I'm sure no one wants to see photo's of the bang up job i did on the fence so onto the engine pic's Fresh new coat of paint not to mention the lovely new pistons Now to refit n set the head to crank And with the top on Looking good even if do say so myself
Guest El87cabi
After transporting my 'precious cargo' home, i had to unload i, luckily after loading the engine before the rebuild, i had a cunning plan....... Think the arse end of my car says it all really All safe and sound, now just need to decide if i should have the box and diff done or just throw the whole lot back in

Guest El87cabi
Engine is now all back together (though i forgot A photo) Decided to look into fitting the Trip Computer my cab was missing when i bought it Nice to be back behind the wheel, that said i'm about to rip it off lol And a few other bits After a lot of digging around and looking at a spare loom i finally found the yellow plug i was looking for, unfortunately i also found the plug wires were trapped by a wire going through them after repair, found another, cut them both and retrieved the plug Looks like soldering tomorrow
