gingergman
it was a good choice on the colour ian your right, but to be honest im not happy with the car, i got it out today in good direct sunlight and had a good ganders, the drives side is almost patchy looking, but its where its been flatted down and not polished up properly, theres a few bits over it im not happy with tbh. il mop it up myself now and sort it out. theres lots of niggly bits over it, not what you expect after paying good money!! another proplem is the boot! i went to put it on today but one of the holes each side for the hinge has been filled in and painted over luckily if i look in at the right angle in decent light up close i can see a tiny outline in the lacquer! il have to drill it out and re tap it, i aint taking it back or they will just grind it back and re paint it, after the hassel of the bonnet and boot so far im not risking them buggering it up when its now ok! its all just shit that i shouldnt have to do! small rant over! pic of said boot problem
Ian71
I can understand your frustration m8,you can always find minor defects with any spray job,its very rare anyone gets a factory finish,my m8 done mine and for the money £1200 including the rear end damage i thought it was a decent job. I have seen some that paid 2k+ and been worse. Me and my m8 have the same colour as you some panels as you say do look a bit patchy, think metalics are harder to do than solid colours. Guest John
metallics are a pain it needs plenty of coats to get even. my brother in law has a body shop in brum he saw mine & pointed out to very thin bits straight away i was gutted but it was a cheap job at £700 it looks good to me its like anything when its not your own you are less picky. it looks well mate. far better than how she was
gingergman
Overall it is a good job paint wise, they've just rushed the final part, its just not been buffed enough to get rid of some light flatting, that's what's making it look patchy, its only in certain light up close, but I am fussy! I'm gunna mop it up with some g10 and hopefully that should sort it.
allblue
Not good to hear that Stu. I mean seriously, who would fill and paint over a threaded hole!? When I had my bumper repainted after I scuffed it on my garage wall (Doh!), the garage did a shiote job. Even left the rubbers in place! And the paint colour was off. Took it back and they redid it properly, much better now. Should be getting it right first time for the amounts we spend on these things. gingergman
i know mate, filling that hole was a bit stupid of them, similar with the rear bumper, it had the strip still fitted that i wanted removing (replacing with new black one) i snapped a couple of inches of the side of it just so they cant forget to remove it, and they prepped & painted it even though it was broken!! he looked and said no worries il paint the strip black, err, no, then it wont match the front! still didnt realise it was snapped/broken after painting it! anywhoo, i was brave and drilled into the boot, through the bondo,(blasting warps ) to find the threaded hole, now on the car, thats one issue sorted! pic above its not shut properly, it does have proper lines lol no time on it till next week now, next weeks plans are get the engine in, and do the polishing! Guest alex.t
Even with the little niggles you have had, the car is looking good. Really like the colour. Quick question about the rst kit. How did you affix it? Using screws and metal rivets? My body shop was suggesting bonding mine on and filling holes in to try and prevent any future rust starting at the holes
gingergman
metal rivets for the kit, they suggested running a sealer like stuff along the skirts to stop water, but i wasnt keen on that idea, they said rivets are better than screws and should now be ok, so i just went with that! welshlad
my skirts have been sealed prior to having its last spray job so hopefully theres no rust beneath them. Ill prob reseal them if them if i take em off, it makes sense in the long run methinks my skirts are non genuine too as they have no jacking point covers (which isnt a bad thing) my cabs original colour is silver too but its just not my thing, standard colour wise the aquas are my fav although i do like the amethyst ones too Edited August 26, 2015 by welshlad

gingergman
the plan was to get a new mohair fitted but tbh i cant really afford it! so im using this one on a cab i brought to break, ive no before pics of it, but the car has been sat for 5 years so it was quite filthy/green/dusty! it came up quite well after a good scrub, but still decided to use a dye on it, more than happy with the result, it actually dont look far off new. il be fitting it to mine at some point soon
allblue
Loving the way the car is coming Stu. Can't wait to see it in the flesh. Mohair roofs can be a pain with moss. But what I find is Autoglym fabric roof cleaner + stiff brush + a lot of elbow grease x 2/4 repeats gets off most of the moss.
gingergman
cheers sonny i used renovo, used the cleaner twice, very good stuff, got rid of the green on the first go, and after the dye i used a sealer too, water just sits on top of it now, and its suppose to stop moss too, il be putting it on mine in a couple of weeks the same time as the screen goes in. done a bit more today, pics soon

gingergman
Shocks I got from a local private seller on ebay, he brought them and didn't use them, came with springs too that I gotta flog! But originally the kit came from Germany, its a German company that makes them, 6 week wait on them too, there about 250 quid
