Guest neilseficab
My 1990 efi has a job to idol and when driven at low speeds it feels like it has a misfire. Any ideas guys?
Guest username
Not a huge amount to go on without more details if it does it when hot/cold/both, what's been checked/changed already or if there's any other symptoms. Also there is a diagnostic plug near the battery box/strut top area (black triangular plug, 3 pins) if you can get a code reader it'd maybe point something out. For what it's worth, ours had a similar sounding issue and sometimes stalled when coming to a stop and it was a bad connection to the coolant sensor (blue 2 pin plug on the thermostat housing, not the 1-wire gauge one nearby). The sensors themselves can go out of range too but start with simple stuff first
Guest blaughland
I am getting something similar, but only when engine is warm. No bother when cold. When driving slowly (30mph in 4th gear) it is very chuggy! When idling it sits at approx 900rpm and has the occasional stutter. I will have a look at the connectors to ensure they are ok, but failing that I will take it for diagnostic checking. If that identifies the issue I will post answer. Whilst I am on, my electric hood goes down great but sometimes doesn't work when trying to put hood back up. No noise nothing, it's as though the switch is perhaps faulty. Any ideas? Thanks, Brian
zygott
mine does exactly the same, had leads, plugs, coil pack, air temp sensor, checked cam timing, was out slightly, that improved it but its still there, im guessing i don't have the timing spot on yet. Stephen Bearded Minky Hill
Hmm I've had this issue for years and have never sorted it really. Maybe thinking the camshaft is worn out?
Ian71
Worth checking as my efi fiesta turbo cost a fortune to repair when the cam lobes had worn so bad. If the engine feels realy sluggish then its time to investigate a worn cam. If engine has plenty of pulling power then chances are its not cam related. Stephen Bearded Minky Hill
Mine runs on base idle as the iscv never worked right. It still pulls nicely. As Ian and Ollie know after helping me put an Anglia alternator belt on at Santa pod lol

Guest neilseficab
not tried changing anything yet, just wanted an idea before i started. I'm prone to the sort of problems that only ever seem to be sorted after trying many different things. It seems to idol reasonably ok when first started then once the auto choke cuts off it begins to idol rough and cuts out. It does have a slight misfire at around 2000 rpm but not sure if this is related or just another issue.
Guest username
Check out Stephen's recent post on NGK vs Bosch spark plugs, could be worth a shot too
