Well as the pink cab has took a short back seat as its now a daily driver and is well reliable, all my spares i have lying around have become a project just to clear my garage out, all i was short of was a down pipe back exhaust and a rolling shell, but the shell was the easy one to find.....

bring on the culprit!!!

A bonus 90 1.3HCS 5 speed, the 90 spec bumpers dont come with the car but std ones do....

then a few parts i had aquired but done nowt with......

Photo-0485.jpg

1 set of 15" mondeo steels that i have painted silver but might get powder coated silver?

A pair of mk3 mondeo front calipers, and 300mm st170 front discs in the box.

I know they dont fit under the wheels but as with the zetec-s fiestas a slight rub here and a slight rub there with a grinder and they do fit, only about 3mm off the corners needs removing if i'm right?

groove them mate, why the hell not!!!! after all, if you can, than do :biggrin:

looking forward to seeing the work on this

Well i dont wanna get too bogged down with one thing or end up having to wait for it to be finished before i can move on, as thats why i get sick with some of my conversions all too fast!!! as its more of a garage clearout than a true project just wanna bung it all together ASAP rather than faff on polishing this n that, if it costs nowt and takes up little time it will get done as i'm thinking about trying to twist the arm of the powerd coater at work to get the wheels done in silver, i might aswell stick though a hand full of other parts at the same time rocker cover, brackets, etc, etc

But we shall see with all this fine weather we are having i cant see why i cant have most of it done this week!!!!

Well finally got round to moving the bonus to my house today.

Photo-0502.jpg

So 1st things 1st was to have a go at fitting the 300mm mk3 mondeo calipers under a 15" wheel which people say cant be done as they only fit under a 16" wheel.

Well after a few bits of trimming with the grinder, mainly on the outer edges they fit.

Photo-0505.jpg

Photo-0507.jpg

But the calipers are real close to the inside of the rim, so much so that when i put one of the rims i had that had not been though the shot blast it jammed up solid on the rust!!!!

Cheers for the offer but a bit far to travel m8 think i got one sorted now actually got a mtx75 box from a mk5 rs2000 with shafts n that, i fancy having a go chucking in but as its quite a bit of work i might just stick with the ib5 box for speed, however i'm looking into trying to turbo the bike carbs i got so might end up going down that route yet!!!

Well been away for a while been a bit busy, busy, busy however took a few pics of whats been going on.....

bike carb inlet made to suit cbr900 carbs, also 1.3 engine removed along with 4 speed box.

then after offering my services trying to fit another set of shells into a 2.0 silvertop conversion, as well as getting a set of super leggra's powder coated at my work i have now come into ownership of a 2.0 zetec blacktop and a rs2000 mk5 escort mtx75 gearbox inc. driveshafts and gear selector, so this low key conversion has become a high powered interesting conversion over nite.

also i now have all 4 tires fitted to the blasted and coated 15" steel rims

the mtx box was caked in grease so much so you could not see the casting webs in the outside of the box after getting both me and the kids coverd in god knows what with a full set of b&q paint brushes and a gallon of patio cleaner this is what i ended up with...

well after having a rummage around my garage i found a small unopened tin of silver hammerite begging to be used......

so that can only lead to one thing?

Photo-0523.jpg

Photo-0524.jpg

then after waiting nearly a week for the weather to break the 1.3 and 4 speed were removed.

then after nearly another week waiting for the missus to leave the focus at home and use the cabby to go to work in i retrieved the 2.0 mondeo blacktop engine.

then proceeded to fit the cbr900 bike carbs and gearbox for a mock-up fit to see what i could or could not get away with.

well as the rs2000 gearbox utilises a front starter the blacktop sump i was going to use wasno good then remember reading somewhere about the silvertop sump fitting the blacktop engine....

Photo-0532.jpg

Photo-0533.jpg

then also having to swap the blacktop oil pick up pipe for the silvertop one as its too low and prevents the fitting of the all alloy sump.

Once the engine was almost sitting in the engine bay when it should, all be it supported on wheels 'n tires, i noticed that the stud and nut that fits through the inner wing mount jams up on the rear tensioner on the blacktop so after a bit further investigation it would appear that the 4 holes on the back of the blacktop are different again to the silvertop, so i googled an image for a modifed mk4 mount that would work on the blacktop?

I'm thinking CBR 600; the bike carbs seem an easier and cheaper route than twin webber.

Yeah cbr600's aint a bad sized set of carbs for a cvh and like you say much more affordable than the webbers, also can be more drivable and more efficient than the webber too due to the variable venturi in them.
