gingergman
Recently brought another more door mk4 to use this summer (cabriolet will be done hopefully next summer) its super clean with excellent history, ghia model so electric windows heated front screen etc, its proper original even has the ford fire extingusher in the boot! the temptation to mod it has hit me though, but il reverse it all when the time comes to sell. then my new cosworth wheels fitting 195/40's probably wasnt the best lol, stretched!! i trial fitted them, there back off now till the suspension arrives, they have some poke!! dunno how far il go with it as i do want to change it back in the future
allblue
That's a nice tidy mk4 you got there Stu, I say keep it standard Love the wheels - ate they going on the cab?
gingergman
Yeah I got them to put on the cab when its finished, but I cant resist sticking them on this first!
RScab
Yep must agree with Sonny - keep it standard
Guest baldstumpy
Fit the wheels and see how it handles, wide wheels made my Fiesta really heavy at low speeds even with power steering
gingergman
I'm expecting it to drive rubbish to be honest, I wont be using it every day so it'll be cool. I normally cut the springs on them and that's a bad ride!
welshlad
Nice to know how my same wheels are gonna look when i get my toyos stretched on . and they are def gonna catch the arches as ive found out on countless google searches im def gonna buy one of them arch rolling devices methinks. and im still debating whether to paint em gold!! lol
gingergman
ive been speaking to people who have 205 or 215 lowered on standard arches and have no rubbing issues, everyone seems to say diffrent things, so im just finding out for myself! make sure you have the correct wheel bolts too mate,
welshlad
205's would of been nicer, do you mean standard bolts? bought a load of new ones a while back (standard size) and i have a set of standard size locking bolts but prob gonna buy another set too
gingergman
Nope, you need other bolts, the size of the bolt hole is bigger on them, I found there commonly known as "ghia bolts" I got a set from speed shack. They have a large collar on them.
welshlad
Gutted, thanks for that so are they off they mk3 ghia maybe? never knew there was two sizes, only prob now is locking bolts as it looks like the old and new sets i have wont fit
woodspeedcreations
Hi guys love the more door should look good with the wheels any way why dont you buy a stud conversion kit then you can use any standard alloy wheel nuts from mondeo/sierra/ mk5/6 escort we have used them loads and not had any problems
welshlad
Ive looked at them stud conversions a few times but wasnt sure if they could be used on the mk4 etc, might take another look at that option

welshlad
Looking good how much did you lower it by (just springs or shocks too ? )
gingergman
Its just on a spring kit, the back has settled a little lower now too! As for how low it is, hmmm, the kit I got was -35mm but its for a rs turbo, rs springs are already lower as standard than these normal models, the springs were much much shorter than standard, we think its more like 60mm. 35 on your cab will be different
