Clare presented me with an Auto trader on Christmas morning and told me to pick what I wanted. (Okay, there was a limit). So for the last week we've been out looking for a car to replace the Mercedes.

First choice and within the christmas price limit was the Focus ST170 but for the money we had, I wasnt confident on finding a good one so that idea was binned. Second choice was put a bit of money to and buy the Mondeo ST220 3.0 V6 Petrol. Went out in a few and they are amazing but the fuel costs is one of the things we wanted to lower so the 3.0 Mondeo would not be any better than the 3.2 Mercedes. lol. Third choice was to put even more money to and go for the Mondeo ST 155 tdci although for the same age and spec of car the diesel was about £1k more than the petrol. Did a few sums and it was still worth it as I do over 12000 miles per year.

After much riding round in the rain we settled on a Blue 2006 Mondeo ST 155 tdci saloon. Fully loaded spec including full black leather Recaros, heated and electric. Aircon AND sunroof. 109k on clock which is low for a deisel. Had it since Friday and averaging just over 40mpg. This economy is a whole new world for me. The last 3 cars (and 7 years) have struggled to get much over 15mpg. lol. (3200cc E Class Merc / 4300cc Chevy van / 350bhp Sapphire Cosworth)

I farkin love it.

Only got two pics as its only stopped raining for about 10 minutes since I had it.

Hope you like.

I am lucky. Its ace. I've never had owt this new.

Also, I've NEVER had a diesel so I've got to really really concentrate when pulling into petrol station. #black pump# #black pump#

Looks great Alan. You can't go wrong with a Mondeo......I've had Skippy's brother (ST24) since he was 8 months old and now 10years later he's still going strong and done nearly 200,000 miles and he's petrol.....they do like long drives though.

Thanks

Avril

I like big cars and Ford so Mondeo was an obvious choice. I had the early Mk1 Mondeo a few years back with the same 2500cc V6 as yours and it was a train. Never had a problem and loved every minute so hopefully the new one will give me the same good service and pleasure. Looking promising up to now.

Picking the multispoke ST wheels up tomorrow. They're kirbed a little but cheap.

I like the ones on the car and they are propper ST wheels but they're not the wheels I think of when I picture a Mondeo ST in my head.

They're a means to an end though. The future plan is some Focus RS wheel eventually. 19" if they're cheap but 18" reps definately. There's not a lot of difference between the Mondeo ST and the Focus RS. But there's enough for me to want the RS. lol
