A couple of hours with a power washer made a big difference.I removed all the interior after bailing out the standing water. It was over an inch deep in the rear footwells.Couldn't believe the floor once the carpet and sound proofing was out... no rot or holes at all.Hence the way it was retaining all the water in the footwells.Nice surprise !! I will upload more pics later.

The mini is a 1972 1098cc,and was previously owned by Chris Evans the DJ.

What can I say..........all Escort cabs deserve

to be saved especially if it is a mk3, looks like

you are well into old classic cars, is the triumph

yours as well.

Keep updating and posting pics , love nothing better

then seeing a mk3 getting a new lease of life.

As promised some more pictures.

The floor pan is remarkably sound given the quantity of water it was storing for such a long time. The worst area is around the handbrake, but it just seems to be the handbrake assembly itself that has rusted.

The engine bay was steamed off (all the wildlife was safely relocated prior to the deep clean).

I started to remove the 80's graphics and gave the underlying paint work a deep polish (see picture of front wing) again the paint work is not too bad.But I have a tendancy to go to extremes with my restorations here is how I took my 1983 xr3i back to basics...
