Guest Cabbytech
I like what you have done here, and the rear lights give it some originality which funnily enough seems to make the cab come together quite well. I dont think it would look right with smaller wheels, this car has big presence and looks really well in white, keep up the good work, have you any other major plans for it ? gingergman
a carbon bonnet will look the tits, make it look even meaner! Alot of doller but you cant get better than carbon fibre! Them breaks look like monsters, what are they? As for the vents instead of mesh, its all in the detail, and youve cacked it lol
Guest Alanman
Them breaks look like monsters, what are they? Â The fronts are 330mm Hispec bells and rotas and the rears are hispec too but not sure on size. The fronts are currently running RS Turbo calipers but I fancy upgrading now they're visible and the back calipers are unknow, although (please dont tell anyone) they have a VW stamp on em. lol. Guest Alanman
I keep flicking from one photo to the next and can work out weather its an improvement or not. It definately different, but is it different good or different bad? I do miss the chromes. lol. Â Â Edited March 12, 2010 by Alanman
Guest vinnyvangough
I love the fins in the wing, great touch. Â IF you go for the CF bonnet, make sure you get one that fits. Â I been round LOADS of cars with CF bonnets and i can tell you that not many of them actually fit well. If you get one and it dont fit quite right, it will RUIN everything else you have done to the car
Guest Alanman
The bonnet that's on it now is fibreglass and in all honesty that has some issues with fitting nice. lol. Â You cant beat a metal bonnet. lol
Guest shaun
Hi after much looking at 2 pics the black wheels dont stand out as when in the earlier pics with white or chrome wheels....Maybe angle of pic not sure....but cab in white seems more fat at rear than in blue....still wicked fat cabbie tho mate this cabbie still keeps changing every time i see it love it Edited March 12, 2010 by shaun
gingergman
white doesnt catch your eye as quick, it doesnt stand out as much as the blue, but it looks better white for sure, just new wheels when you sort them, that will top it off, good luck selling the chromes, worth a pretty penny! chaz
In my opinion big cab looked better with the white wheels, it stood out more, probably the black wheels looks better then the pics are showing.
Guest Alanman
The black wheels DO look better in the flesh, but we're slowly coming back round to the whites. lol  So expect to see white wheels some time soon. lol.  I spent all yesterday afternoon swapping the radiator over. Had a small leak from the welds. Sound an easy job, but it was the turbo off starter motor. It was a right pain in the ass for such a little leak.  Still got interior to put in and a little bit of cleaning / buffin.  All steam ahead for Santapod on Saturday for the Fast Show. Its first public apearance white, we'll see whether we've done the right thing then. lol.
Guest Alanman
Most of the intrior is in, but needs a massive cleaning session. Â Finished tidying the engine bay too last night and it has never looked so good. Its still got a few bits left to clean up but I'm very happy with it thus far. You'd never know it used to be blue, and 25 years old. lol
Guest Alanman
As a contrast. And this photo was just after a good clean too.
Guest Alanman
Managed to finish the interior of the boot last night, making a bulk head out of chequer plate for behind the exhaust. Then covered it with some spare carpet to match the standard Ford side panels. Brush painted black all the bits in the boot that where either cream or still blue. And thanks to a couple tin of redbull I also totally painted the chequer plate on the boot floor. lol. The exhaust stand out so much now. Made a trim to go round the fuel neck where it goes through the chequer plate, to look nice and protect it from chafing. Oh er! Â Went in the house at about 11pm still pumped up on redbull, so decided to make the stickers that I fucked up on for the pasenger side skirt and some extra little ones for the brake calipers. Half hour later (Clares already gone to bed) I was finished, but couldnt resist, and went back out to the garage to put the stickers on. lol. Redbull is defo the fuel of champions. Â Still got a few little jobs left but mainly the wheels to take off and paint the inner arches. Thats tonights job with some more red bull me thinks. Â I am officially sleeping all Saturday. lol. Guest Alanman
Well, what can I say. I was well happy Saturday morning on the way to Santa Pod. I was following the Cab in my Merc and it was looking sweeeeeeet. Unfortunately that feeling was short lived, we only got 2 junctions and the piece of old shit decided it was too much and just cut out. It lost all ignition power. We managed to get recovered home (best money I'd ever spent) to find a wire has shorted behind dash, it looked like it was trapped behind another set of wires and must have been rubbing, and took a few other out while it was at it. Not sure what the wire is for yet. Only had a quick look and knew straight away it was going to be a dash off job so disconnected battery and left it. We knew it wasnt going any were so we decided to leave it and set off for the pod again in the Merc together. Not quite the same weekend but the tickets were all paid for, dog sitter sorted and the tent and food was already packed in the Merc. lol. Â Going to have the whole dash out tonight and see how bad it actually is. Fingers crossed it'll be an easy fix. I was going to struggle with dash still on but I recon I need to take it all out to make sure I find all damaged areas. The wiring loom is at least 20 years old and has been in at least 3 cars that I know. Â You could say we're a little piss off, although a small part of me wonders if my life would be a shit load easier if it kept burning and end up a pile of ash at the side of the road. lol
chaz
You only say that cause you are angry mate, once it is fixed and running the love will come back. Edited March 22, 2010 by chaz
Guest Alanman
We're getting there. Its still not fixed to a usable point yet. Long story short, some bad repairs of dodgy old Ford wiring a long time ago caused the Clifford immobiliser to fail. For the last 4 years, while the alarm has been in, its had way too much current passing through it and Saturday morning it decided it was just too much.  Its now back to working (almost) after removing some damaged wire that werent needed, repairing some that were needed. Although the wiring seems all good and back as it should be, we're still getting problems with the fuel pump blowing fuses, 30 amp fuses too.  This could be 1 of 2 reasons.  Option 1: Before the Cab came back on the road, I swapped out the fuel tank and its possible I've trapped the fuel pump wires causing a short. Easy fix, reroute another feed to the pump. Going to check this tonight, but I recon its option 2.  Option 2: The fuel pump itself is fucked and causing a short. Also easy fix......swap the pump.  Although we've still got a problem, we are a shit load happier today than we were Monday. Monday we though we needed a whole new loom and a new alarm, that would have been £600+. Today it looks like the worsed is a new (second hand) fuel pump at about £20.  ps. I love this car. lol   Alanman
chaz
See the love is coming back mate, good luck with it hope you have it fixed soon.
RScab
could hav been a lot worse m8,  its still in one piece and just a little wiring job  good luck with it
Guest Alanman
It ended up being Option 3. lol.  When I was checking the wire to the fuel pump, I found it was stuck the the exhaust. Doh. Looks like when I changed the tank, I didnt secure the wire enough and it hung too low, touched the exhaust and melted through. So I rerouted a new wire (securly) and its fired up great, with no blown fuses. YAY.  We took it a ride out last night with no dash in just to see and its all good. So this afternoon's job is to refit the dash. nb With no dash in an Escort's engine is very noisy. lol.  We've had a worrying week thinking it was going to cost hundreds and all it ended up costing was about £10 in new wires, relay and fuses. Got to be happy with than. lol.   Alanman :-)
Guest shaun
good old fords never die they just get better easy to re-pair or patch up....just think if was a newer car would of cost loads  Glad you found the fault and givin big cab more love keep up the good work
gingergman
glad it was a easy fix for you mate, you was only pissed off for a short while, think how long you would be pissed off for if it has set on fire and ended up as ashes like u said, its just a greedy cab that wants even more love lol! Â when its at a show and you hear what people say about it it will all be worth it. Â If it didnt go wrong it wouldnt be a ford lmao!
