Guest vinnyvangough
Well went to get the paint today but brakes were more important so picked up new discs and pads for £38. Well fitted them on so its all good. Was metal to metal on the insides on both sides. BUT. On the outsides, pads were like new bar the drivers one, That had broken clean in half. Guest vinnyvangough
Yea calipers seemed fine. One was slightly stiff but sorted that out and it seems ok now. My mate said it looked like the outer pads were changed but not the inners. We'll see how it works from now on
Guest shaun
No wonder brake warning light was coming on fpmsl sure the paint code the left a number or letter out (KRYSS said about his paint code to some one else on here)so there now only 2no and letter and not 3...hope this helps
Guest vinnyvangough
That may make sense. I'll get some matched to the car so even if the paintwork has faded i'll have a perfect match. Yea the light was on and as i took the pad out, the wire fell to the floor. I cant understand why the light didnt come on earlier though with the state they were in. Will get pics up tomorrow. So far car has cost me Car - £300 Primer - £3.99 Discs and pads - £38 Total - £341.99 Edited March 6, 2010 by vinnyvangough
LeeMcCarthy
you will be amazed at the final price you put in to the car

Guest vinnyvangough
Well, sorted out the head unit. The Sony Xplod rubbish that was in her when i bought her had been "installed" with the aid of lots of bare wires and masking tape!! Took that one out and installed my trusty 5 year old Panasonic MP3/CD/CD-R etc player and wired it all up properly. Picked up some smoked rear lights for £6, although one is darker than the other so gotta sort that out. Also picked up up a pair of doors with glass and door card for £40. Bit of damage around the lock but easily repaired and the doors are still solid. He also threw in another set of door glass and rear window glass too. RESULT!! Still gotta finish sorting the wing out. And also decided on a colour for the full vinyl wrap.
Guest vinnyvangough
Well yet more problems. Pulled out of a junction, and all sorts of noises and vibrations from the gearbox and a severe lack of drive. Well i think its one of 2 things. Either 1 - The clutch pressure plate has exploded or 2 - The diff has gone Gonna put my spare S1 RST box in and inspect the other one for damage
gingergman
not good then mate, the diff went in mine before, what a pain in the arse! still, a bonus you have got a spare box

Guest vinnyvangough
Well swapped it all over. The thrust bearing had destroyed itself. Went to swap everything over, and the RS Turbo clutch and pressure plate are a different size and so wouldn't fit. We ended up having to clean everthing to rid it of all the swarf and bits remaining of the thrust bearing. Then refitted it and fitted the RS Turbo box and all is now good. Also swapped my Mk3 grey/blue interior for my mk4 grey/red interior. While i was there i decided to tidy the shed a little And decided to throw away a load of bits i had laying about
