  1. I will get some more pictures at the weekend of all the escorts on the driveway, hopefully I will be able to get them all in 1 picture
  2. I have that one on my watch list at moment. Would have to fit Recaros & a white roof to it to finish it. That would sort out alot of arguments of who would drive what cabs to the shows. Do you know anyone who does airbrush artwork on cars?
  3. I will be taking the towbar off (not needed) & giving it a service, sorting out a couple of tiny bits of surface rust on the sills. Then it will be all sorted
  4. I should able to have my own car show on the driveway, all I need is a MK3 SE cab if you know 1 going cheap. LOL
  5. Ollie I forget to mention that the missus drives a MK5 1.6 Ghia. So I have got to get a MK1 RS2000 & a MK2 RS2000 Zakspeed to finish the collection. MK1 to MK6
  6. I have just bought another escort to go with my little collection. I have now got a MK3 Escort XR3i tintop, MK4 All white cabriolet & now a MK6 Escort cabriolet Si. Hope you like the new member of the family. More pictures will follow when all the little blemishes are sorted All comments welcome
  7. As some of you know that I am having a little restoration on my 1990 white cabby. I am having a complete respray in diamond white (original colour). The BIG question is what type of paint do I use. Please leave your comments & place a vote on the poll. Thanks in advance Ian
  8. Try checking the crankshaft sensor is plugged in or knackered (which located above the starter motor) - these send the pulse signal to the ECU which tells injectors to fire
  9. Barry you can do membership on their website or you can join the BOEC (i am the East Anglia Rep)
  10. I'll be there in my tin top. I can pick up the wheels from you aswell ollie
  11. Looks great & looks better in a green cab
  12. I have worked on countless amount (100s) of MK4 escorts & none of them had electric windows
  13. I'll be there in my Tintop. It will be good to catch up with a few members
  14. I have put white grease in mine & I haven't had any trouble with it for about 2 years
  15. Try this mate ECU will have been reset if thebattery has been disconnected for more than 1 hour however, it then has to bedriven for a minimum of 5 miles during which time full throttle operation mustbe used a number of times (2nd or 3rd gear is best) but there is no need totake it to the red line...just have your foot planted up to 4 or 5,000 rpm eachtime and then change gear. Also need to cruise at half throttle a number oftimes for as long as the road will allow...again 3rd gear is best at around3,000 rpm.......and then accelerate flat out and change gear. Lastly, need tocome a full stop a number of times and let the engine settle at idle. Thiscovers a reset and re-learn of the ECU To set the base idle: get engine to operatingtemperature and while at idle, disconnect the ISCV. Engine should still idlebut around 650 to 700 rpm. If it does, re-connect ISCV, allow engine to settleat idle without revving and then turn off ignition. If engine does not tickover with ISCVdisconnected, locate idle adjust screw (found at 9 o'clock in the recess in theface of the throttle body where the air inlet pipe joins the throttle body) andturn it clockwise until it lightly seats and then back it out 3 complete turns.Re-connect ISCV and then restart engine. Allow to settle at idle and thendisconnect ISCV again. If engine does not idle, turn idle screw 1 turn anticlockwise and re-connect ISCV. Restart engine and repeat process as necessaryuntil such time the engine will idle at 650 to 700 rpm with the ISCVdisconnected. Once this base idle is achieved, re-connect ISCV while engine isstill running. Idle may surge initially.............allow to settle on its own.Do not rev. Once idle has settled, turn off engine. After the base idle has been set, the CO will needto be checked and set using a CO meter. Set at around 1.5% with the fanrunning. After CO has been set, do base idle check again following the aboveprocedure and adjust as necessary If base idle and CO are correct, when the engineis revved to around 3,000 rpm and the throttle let go, the rev counter needleshould drop straight away to 1800 rpm, pause ever so slightly then drop to 1300rpm and then slowly drop to idle of 950 rpm. If the needle "hangs" at3,000 rpm when throttle is released then base idle is set too high. If revcounter needle drops like a stone to below idle and then creeps back up toidle, the base idle is set too low.

    Tapping

Is the word you are looking for - Tappets
  18. I have changed numerous cranks on CVH engines & never had a problem. That is the first time I have heard of this.
  19. I have been playing a bit more on the cabby. I removed the crankshaft which had a groove from the rear seal housing - pictured below and replaced with another crankshaft with new shells then I sorted out the block then decided to de-dimple the gearbox casing to try & polish it to a smooth surface Then the fan shroud got a clean & a coat of fresh black paint
  20. You should of told me that you was using my MK4 gearbox picture, I would have cleaned it before you used it. LOL
  21. If it is an EFI model try checking the fuel cut off switch under the spare wheel in the boot - make the white switch is clicked down (It is a common problem on EFI models)
