  1. A few years back when the escorts were a few years old a lot of people on the show scene converted the bonnet so it lifted up useing chrome tailgate struts rather than the bonnet stay I think this looks good any one know how this was done what bits were used so I stand half of chance of locating them and fitting to my own mk5 thanx mark

  2. Got another set of wheels for mine raceing against the clock to get them done in time as fit in between jobs 15 inch soft lines I believe going for anthracite grey with a bit of gilter we are going down 1st thing on the Friday morning really looking forward to it now counting down like a kid at x mas lol

  4. Yes got rear shocks done to day the nuts were an absolute ------- but with a lot of swearing at the car and at each other at lots of heat and a hack saw we got there in the end at to fit a new bolt and nut to one side run out of time to do lower arm joint but the rear handling is totally transformed we reckon it sits an inch or 2 higher was well worth it we believe the old shocks were the originals not bad at 21 years thanx for the tips all blue you are so right it would of been a lot easier if I could of got it higher l

Last year no advisories this year I need to do rear shocks and lower arm joint and they say she as a oill leak but I think it is old oill as just had a new oill pressure switch fitted not bad at 21 and least I know she 100 % right was going to pay my mechanic but I feel he wants to much so we are going to have a go tommow any one got any tips please, least she will be good for simply ford thanx mark

  6. Just read in a classic car mag that some poor bloke had his prized classic nicked from a locked secure garage they say he must of been watched buy who ever nicked it which got me thinking deos any body know of a cheap DIY tracking system which is mobile phone based only I keep mine in a garage must be possible in this day what with all the technology that is available I know there are recognised systems about but I am looking on a budget

  7. After going on for several weeks going on ebay and looking at samples on here have finally managed to bag my self a set of 15 inch rs soft line alloys they need a refurb but at £130 includeing post and packaging and they come with budget tyres who can complain what a bargin the question now is what colour do I do them I am thinking dark metallic grey they are going on a mk5 finished in amalfie blue I am going to swap the tyres with the ones on my existing alloys as they are fire stones in the next couple of weeks I will be selling my si alloys condition wise they are 8 out of 10 any offers?

  8. Now April is very near would like to thing about a meet before I confirm a location / date I would like to see how many people may be intrested and what day of the week would be best any one intrested please give your name if I get enough intrest it will be held in Stevenage Hertfordshire at a good nice location so cars will be safe and worry free I will watch this space

  9. I see the old money grabbers have started wheeling the old cabbys out ready for the mugs to buy for summer I am sure over the next few weeks we will hear a few story's of people being stitched up buy those out to earn a quick buck thought about storeing one my self over winter and making some doller but I am so passionate about these cars I would spend more than I make glad I brought mine 18 months ago at the start of winter of a genuine dealer watch this space

  10. I decided I wanted smoked rear lights so I got a pair of ebay gave them to my mate to tint so I have the original ones as spare back ups they look lovey but when I come to fit them there is to much black plastic at the top so they don't go in fully I looked at the originals and it looks like in the past some one else had the same problem With one of them I am guessing they are of a hatch back so I have now got to v v carefully cut a bit from each side of the tops as any body else had this problem let me know thanx mark

  11. Cables run down drivers side of car and if u remove fuse box and the drivers side plastic wheel arch liner you will see a big cromit with two big lots of cable going through when I done my power roof conversion I went from the battery across the bulk head / scuttle on drivers side bulk head u see a big hole drop cable through and the other side under the wheel arch is the cromit I made another in the said cromit it is easier than it sounds good luck

  12. Mentioned a few times on here that I would love to put some pictures of my cabby up to show you all a few people mentioned photo bucket but I am as thick as s--t with technology so have put of up till now but I have just created a account selected the picture but that's as far as I can get even my technology geeks don't know much will have another go tommow night after work I am useing an iPad as generally is fairly idiot proof

  13. That's where I am lucky me and my dad own ours I pay for the garage he pays for tax and insurance the looks and comments I have had recently make it worth while a few people tell me to ditch my new focus and just have the escort but I feel it would lose the appeal as a daily driver good luck with what ever you decide
