Guest Janineskunk
Hi all looking for some help any info greatly appreciated . We've had our cabriolet for approx 15 years now . It's a all blue se . Never had any issues until Saturday . Car has been garaged for a few years so we decided to get it out and back on the road . Car has always been started regularly , so after a new battery fresh fuel ,fuel filter, raidiator , exhaust, oil and filter change, and alternator plus other bits n bobs she was ready for mot . Took for mot on Saturday went to local filling station and filled with £20 of fuel travelled a couple more miles to mot station , was running perfect car was tested (passed no problem) . Taxed online after test . On way home about a mile from mot station it started to run terrible as if on 2 cylinders then cut out . Has not ran since. Changed plugs ,leads, crankshaft sensor but still no joy now has no spark any ideas anyone ?? Fuel is going to the rail all injectors are squirting fuel , pump is OK have drained out tank filled with more fresh fuel and another filter but still the same . any help greatly appreciated .... Ian71
Take spark plug out and see if you have a spark. If not will be coil pack or crank shaft sensor

Stephen Bearded Minky Hill
Just wondering as its been stood a while. Has the heater matrix sprung a leak? It's right above the ecu. A soggy ecu will cause all sorts of problems
Guest Janineskunk
Tried new ecu (the husband did) no change its sooo frustrating as I've just passed my test on the 8th August all this lovely weather will have gone by the time it's sorted ☹️

Ian71
Have you checked the fuse board ?
Paul Grainger
Are you sure the injectors are pulsing? Were they checked using a noid is light? If so you can use the same thing on the coil pack wiring. There are three wires. The black one in the middle is the 12v feed from the ign relay. The two green ones are the earth trigger wires that go to the small edis 4 ECU on the bulkhead. Plug the noid light into the black and one of the green wires. Turn the engine over and see if it flickers. If it does then it is the coil pack. If not then it could be the edis 4 module or its related wiring. It does communicate with the main ecu using pip and saw signals which you can only test with a scope but don't worry about these. If the pip signal wire was broken then the injectors wouldn't be working and if you have lost the saw signal then the ign timing would be stuck at 10 degrees but should still start. Good luck

Guest Janineskunk
Update guys . Today I've had a multimeter to the crank shat sensor when turning the motor over it only showing 0.23 volts ..with the crank sensor out it shows no resistance I'm not great with electrics but this seems wrong to me I'm now thinking the new crankshaft sensor may be faulty , if I'm right would this stop spark and injectors?? Thanks in advance

Ian71
Yes,mine recently would not start after I had done 30 miles, thought it was my immobiliser because I had no spark, checked everything else, rac man turned up unplugged sensor ,cleaned it and it started first time. Felt stupid cos it was the only thing I failed to check.

Stephen Bearded Minky Hill
A friend of mine has a fiesta turbo. She had a problem with a new sensor being slightly too short when compared to the original. Also when I swapped my gearbox once I damaged the crank sensor wire. Check for damage and conductivity with the multimeter.
