Guest Alex48
hi all, last proper time i was on here was in 2010 I now work for myself from home so can do things through the day again got her stripped down to see what welding needed doing.. had a full MOT when laid up for 5 years! she was left out in the elements under a cover for a lot of this though.. i know, i know. floor needs patches above the jacking points, it needs a new sill on the drivers side (already have this) a little work on the passenger sill (luckily the inners are fine) the spare wheel well needs replacing as water was getting in thanks to the roof coming away from the car (i have this cut to size ready to weld) then it needs a little patch around the battery tray and then some work on each front wheel arch liner. Bodywork needs a little work but not much, bonnet front, 2 wheel arches need attention which i have already begun and was just paint bubbling and the metal itself is fine. sounds a lot looking at it written down! no doubt it would be cheaper and easier to break mine and buy one with an MOT but where's the fun in that? very satisfying doing everything yourself and keeping another old car on the road! I have never actually welded a car although i am a competent welder with all of the gear and was a mechanic before going in IT.i bought this car when i was 17 way back in 2006 and would love to have it another 9 years! on the plus side it's got a pretty nice spec and makes good power, the RS turbo engine was rebuilt before being fitted and i still have receipts and pics of this here's some pics.. Eeek .. looks pretty bad but she's solid where it matters! all of this has happened whilst sitting doing nothing Edited March 31, 2015 by Alex48
