88 & 90 Spec Trims What Yr Were They In Cars

ok so having a discussion on face book

 

a 88 reg xr3i tin top haas the same seats as my cab (90 spec) a guy is saying its been modified but like mine its a 1 owner car & not been changed

 

anyone shed some light on trims etc???

90 spec trim appeared in late 89 in cars.

 

Though its possible to get a car registered in 91 on a H with the old trim style due to them sitting in showrooms for a year or so.

 

Since around that time the old trim style would have been available from parts. It highly likly that if a new car was ordered and they specifically requested the old trim style ford probably would have been able to do it weather that be at the dealer or from factory.

 

Either way today any of these cars could have any trim in it.

Checked through my old Ford CARS sales brochures (84-90) , the old Daytona style seat material (dark grey with little red oblongs) was the original fabric until 1988 when Ford ditched the Rosso Red paint and changed it to Radiant Red, they at the same time introduced the trim Zolda which is what people class as mistakenly class as 90's spec....
