Hi guys. I figured I best start a thread for what was once a gorgeous car.

I bought it under the impression that all the welding had been done and it was basically an abandoned project.

It was last on the road around 2001ish, had an engine rebuild around 1998 (at 80k) and has done just over 100k. From what I gather it has been passed around and never completed.

I have sourced alot of parts and the expense is sky rocketting (as always) and I have had to spend time keeping ontop of my dailey drive (xr3i) so it isnt coming together as fast as planned.

I have found 3 small weld patches needed on the floor but other than that i believe the seller was honest and the car is clear of everything on the hpi.

Unfortuneatly, a previous owner had painted numerous panels and areas including the engine bay in gloss house paint. This was a real nightmare to remove and an unsuspected problem.

With the pictures, you may think I have been working backwards, this is true as I wanted to:

1 - Check panel gaps.

2 - Fit the loom to get a general feel of fitment and removal etc.

3 - Check the engine

4 - Check what parts I have and what I need.

It will be fitted with escort cosworth wheels and S1 recaro's/ steering wheel and decals when finished. I have also managed to obtain a crack free dash! I have decided to keep the engine non turbo as it will be a posing sunday car and not a racer.

Hope you enjoy the few pictures.

Well it has been a long few months! But basically, I have had paint reaction after paint reaction! So I am starting again after discovering about 9 layers of paint in some areas! This is how it stands as of today.

1a - Back to bare metal offside

2aa - 3 weld plates to the floor pan.

3aa - Acid etch primer to the offside.

Tomorrow I start on the rear or front! I suspect the whole car has been painted in gloss house paint!!!! So maybe the rear as it will be hopefully quicker to do.

The 500kb size limit is responsible if the pics are too small.
