Basilbear
Well the deed has been done today and Skippy's transplant has taken place! He's come through his op well so far and the only small issue is that I seem to have got the wrong tempreature switch so his fan's not kicking in until a little bit later than it used to. But apart from that he feels like he has a new lease of life.....seems much quicker of the mark and more responsive, and definitely more power than he had before! ha! So here's some piccies of the proceedings! ha! starting with the old engine being taken out. I also managed to clen some of the engine bay up whilst the engine was out.I don't think its been cleaned since he was new!

Basilbear
I forgot to mention that I haven't swapped his rocker cover over yet, and the Throttle housing that i poilished up hasn't been swapped yet either. So hopefully those will be done during the week along with his new throttle cable, then he should be all happy for the Show next weekend. The polished inlet manifold, Thermostat housing and cold start bits were fitted though and it looks much better. I just need to do something about the distributor now as that looks dirty. JMc
Hi Avril, The car is looking great and the engine bay amazing - well done!!
Basilbear
Thanks John and Andy for your comments. I thought i'd just add to my post to say I have the proper tempreature switches fitted now, and his guage reading is now happy again. I have booked him in for tuning next weekend and the nice man is also going to fit his polished Throttle housing at the same time as apparently that can make a difference to his running! ha! I am so happy now that its swapped and he does feel like a new car....and he is so much faster! ha! thanks Avril
Basilbear
Well Skippy has now done his first 500miles with his new heart and is having his oil changed tomorrow. Then Saturdy its off to the nice little tuning man to get his throttle housing fitted and then tuned up nicely for his next 20year stint! ha! I just hope the guy is kind to him if he puts him on the rolling road thing! it will be interesting to see what his new engine does though, in comparison to the old one. Thanks Avril
JMc
Good luck Avril, Keep us posted on the figures. I should be starting on mine very soon!!
Guest Radman123
Skippy will be one happy cabby when its all finished More shiny bits.....can't be much left under that bonnet that isnt shiny......lol
Basilbear
Well Skippy went for his tuning but the guy wouldn't put him on the rolling road as he hasn't done enough miles yet with his new heart! ha! So he fitted his polished Throttle housing and then just tweaked him here and there. He did pick up that one of his cylinders was reading lower than the rest and so he said if its still reading the same after he's done 1000-1500 miles that i should get the tappet thingy replaced or something like that! ha! So its good that I had the engine fitted now as its under warranty for a year so need any little issues picked up sooner rather than later. I must admit the stethoscope thing he uses is a great little widget as you can hear all sorts of noises really clearly. I'll post somemore piccies of his new throttle housing shortly once i've loaded them. Thanks Avril
