Guest smoothseb
Hi all, My name is seb, currently live in bromley - kent. I have just aquired a 1991 red ford escort mk5 cab. I got it at a very very good price but it is in need of attention. The previous owner had someone try and steal it off there drive. I have no key for it as they lost it, the steering lock was off because of some kind of key jammed in the ignition barrel, so have been able to start it with a screw driver. Only problem i have is the steering lock still works, but the steering wheel is wobbly....i have no problems fitting a new barrel but would it be easier to fit a whole new colum? ? ? and if so where could i get a decent one. cheers. seb. Admin Ollie Posted March 16, 2011 Admin Share Posted March 16, 2011 Hello Breakers or eBay Not sure if you might need transponder and key for mk5 or just ignition barrel and new key Ollie

Guest corrie
when fitting a new barrel you have to have the key in the barrel whilst fitting it to turn the lock off.
Guest RelaxedDiver
Welcome to the club, the 1991 shouldn't need a transponder/pats key, I think that came in around 1995. From memory when putting in the barrel, I think you have to manipulate turn the key as you are putting in the barrel. As for the wobbly steering wheel, is the boss bolt done up tight?
