Guest samrscab
1.8 zetec engine, i'm having the bottom end and my mate who is doing the build is having the head for his car. the new plate for mouting cvh water pump to the zetec bottom end... kieren has been working hard drilling new holes for the plate and making sure everything fits as should do. another pic of new plate for water pump. finished picture with old pump fitted just to make sure before fitting new pump. thats all for today! and will keep the pictures coming, and also (yes the engine will be cleaned before going in car lol) (big thanks to my mate kieren for all his hard work on this build)
Guest gavintwopies
Just wondering why you went down the zvh route when you had a full zetec engine to start with, as i have done quite a few bike carb conversions now and have found the full 16v zetec route to be one of the fastest done, with more power output at the end of it. Are you also swapping the car to a carb tank and doing away with the fuel pump or are you going to regulate the 3bar pressure down to what you need? Also any thoughts on what jet sizes you are going to be running in the carbs? Edited February 22, 2011 by gavintwopies

Guest gavintwopies
Ah rite thought he was getting the head off it as you did not want it coz of the ZVH, rather than him needing the head and you having to go without. I'm just in the middle of sorting my mate out with fitting a 2.0 16v blacktop into a 1.3l mk5 escort 4 speed which will be running cbr900 carbs and inlet that we had fitted to a mk4 bonus again with a 2.0 16v zetec (silvertop) car went very well as the carbs were destined to go onto one of my cars until i did a deal with him. So now i'm onto a set of zx7r carbs and back to the stage of having to make an inlet up for them i also mapped up another one of his cars on megajolt which started as a 1.6 cvh then finally got him to put a 1.8 zetec in then after that blew up a 2.0 zetec and after that he wont fit another 1.8 because of the power difference. i did build a 1.8 zvh up on zx7r carbs about a year ago but it never got fitted due to weather then i bypassed it and went stright to the full 2.0 conversion.........but thats another topic completly ........ so thats enough hijacking for now. Guest gavintwopies
I have a topic going for both the mk5 and my matt black orion on the seriesoneturbo sites not wanting to give my self more work by doubling up on topics but that said its been a little quiet on here and there recently so might get more interest if do duble the topics up. You will probaby get the engine to tickover and rev upto about 2.5-3k on the std 1.3mm jets that the r1's are fitted with but you will need them opening out to about 1.7mm to get the full rev range on the car take a look at this as this is the only one i finally had a video of when we fitted the std carbs justto see what would happen. Guest gavintwopies
Looking good but i would deffo invest in a vernier pulley as the blocks are about 4mm taller than the cvh and this will knock your cam timing out by 1/2 a tooth, have you modded the engine mount yet? Also why not have a shot of running it on an edis4 & megajolt instead of a std dizzy that way when you get bored you can then drop a 2.0 zetec in. if you wanna keep it looking neat fit a 1.8 16v clio oilfilter there quite small and will give you loads of clearance. Also watchout for the oilfiler coming loose on the engine as its happended a few times to us cured it with a jubilee clip and a small length of an old arcwelding rod.
