MarineIguana
The drivers side one looks a bit worse off than the other but I suppose it depends on if you want the hassle of doing them both, Cos if it were me I would be replacing both just because its worth doing while its stripped so you have peace of mind for the future
Guest avul
cheers lil al, not worried bout doin them both, but was thinkin as the near side wing was a pattern part panel it is a lot thinner than the original off side panel & as i dont think i can afford orig panel's & 2 repair this inner wing's as there better metal (ie thicker metal) than puttin on thinner panel's of metal. decision's, decision's, decision's!!!!! gingergman
do it now while you can, if you dont you might regret it in the future, its worth doing, if ya gunna do it, do it proppa, as they say
Guest tony.rose
I agree with stu, nows the time to do it, you will not want to go back and do it again in the future.
Guest gavintwopies
I have helped out fitting after market inner wings to mk4 escorts and some times the shape of the inner wingpanels dont quite have the same shape to them as the originals.... not a masive head ache but worth noting.  thats why when i need to plug a hole as small as that i use an oldship yard trick well 90% of a old guys shipyard trick  get your self a piece of copper big enough to cover the hole your working on (i cant afford a piece of copper that big so i use aluminium (hence the 90% ) g-clamp it in place over the hole, then when you start to weave back and forth filling the hole from the oposite side the weld sticks to the weld and not the alloy. once done remove clamps and tap inner wing with hammer the alloy piece will fall off you can then grind it down into the shape you require and if any holes apear its just a case of going back over them again with the welder and re-dressing it till your happy.  So you dont cut out all the inner wing but you can have your repair piece as thick as you like . JMc
Hi Avul, Â I have been reading your thread with great interest, as I hope to be starting my Mk III soon and yours would definitely seem to be heading in the right direction. Â Good effort and keep on with the updates. Any ideas on the colour, or are you going to go back in the same shade of red? Â John
Guest avul
hi john, thanx 4 the gd comments m8 yea she's gonna stay red, but not sure if i'm gonna b able 2 get sunburst red as thats wat colour she is, she was a lilttle bit sun fadded but surprisingly not 2 bad at all, but the wife keeps callin her orange, really gets my goat gotta keepthe women in check lol  yea she's def headin in the ryt direction but a lot slower than i would like, but spos that life wen u ave 2 wrk 2 live, dam lottery why do my number's never cum in  ave u got a post up? regards mark
JMc
Hi Avul, Â I was going to say the same thing about my lottery numbers. They keep drawing the wrong numbers out (or at least that is what I tell myself each time!) Â I have not started a thread on my Mk III as yet, due to the fact that it is still sitting in a garage. That said, I have been watching everyone's threads and there is some great information on the site. I cannot wait to get started, but will probably on more than one occasion, regret saying that . As soon as I do, I will share my bleeding knuckles and loss of friends to cold nights in a garage!! Â JMc
