Guest scottishstu Posted April 23, 2010 Share Posted April 23, 2010 well here goes guys i bought this about 6-8 ago! iam ashamed to say just one thing or another happened and got pushed further doin the peckin order untill last sunday!,was fed up and just went out to the garage and started!!! heres the details: well a finally got started on it this week! had it about 6-8 yrs lol it a mk4 escort cabriolet in diamond white 1.6i on a d plate!!!!! 86 well started the other day gutted the garage out so could get round about it took best part of the day got some weird and wonder full shit lol,i seem to hourd everthing hehehe,and way after a few trips to the tip ive got space to get around it. sun 18/4/10 removed the roof over haulded the front brakes removed front bumper removed rs body kit removed drum on pass side as binding on so all in all been good day underneath solid thank god been undersealed at some point,does need some welding very little few 10 size holes in inner arches and front panel need a wee bit attention. passangers door doesnt look to good hope fully ma spelling not too bad lol it 4am cant sleep thinking off what to do next.......... heres what iam thinking at the mo.......... totally stip inside more or less done the now,get dash out completly so can treat floor etc front windscreen out as a bit of rust starting at bottom corner remove doors and strip bare hopefully can save passangers door? get door rebuilt found central locking modules and looms lol and... electric window moters and looms elec mirrors think loom there too... fuel computer and new dash insert need to see if this easy to get wired up? so plenty off bits and bobs told you a hourd everything hehehhee then after that done time for the body work!!!! rub down 1 dent drivers wing and surface rust passangers quarter panel then rub down and treat sills with stone chip prob paint axel and roll bars to prevent rust too think thats me for the mo.......... parts needed so far... new battery front indicators brake pipes passangers door? poss new lights look the part after respray dont want old crap on ye and craig if your reading this............ hope your up for painting it lol keep yours posted hopefully it wont be another yr or 2 before i do anymore lol just shame got college today in the mood now to beast it... watch this SPACE.... monday 19/4/10 well was at college to 4pm and still got the bug lol heres what done today.... freed off back brakes drums back on etc now back on it wheels had a few flats mind ya so pumped them up took full dash out stripped out full interior so totally bare now! had to clear all the junk i had dumped inside off it and on top off it lol took it out the garage so can get space to get the doors off while it was out the garage i gutted it out and got some shelfs sorted out arranged so parts all in one area so be easy to find at rebuild time(hopefully!) me orginised shocker huh! so garage now brushed out and all sorted tool in one area etc thats about it was getting too dark to do much more but i guess fair bit done in a few hrs? wish i was this keen when a first got it ! it would have been on the road yrs ago!! lol any well pleased with the progress the last few days now time to start the body work get pics up soon.... wed21/4 heres what got done today had a few hrs on it! BUT HAD CRACKING TIME! crack the front windscreen!!!! doh when taking it out! had to but as rust forming in one of the corners got back bumper off removed rear light ariel removed removed all rubber seals removed centre roof padding removed bonnet and replaced it with genuine rs bonnet! removed drivers side body kit then my BEST BUD CRAIG CAME DOWN!......(hes got his own body shop) And tried talking sense into me? lol or he just barier of bad news? lol (only joking mate!) lol he got me thinking...... "if you want a minter" you should replace the front wings and slam panel........... the problem is there all spot welded on! oh happy days! but A KNOW HES RIGHT! makes sense after all the work thats went in so far and save doing it again! a want it to last! so been expensive day lol now NEED!!!....... 2 front wings slam panel passangers door oh and of course a new front windscreen!! think fuel pump knacked too and the holder is wasted! pics to follow Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest scottishstu Posted April 23, 2010 Share Posted April 23, 2010 thanks! hopefully weather be good over the weekend would like to get all the spot welds drilled out so ready for new panels,knowing me once the front off ill want to take the engine out! so can get it all rubbed down and painted! lol heres a little history a bought it off ebay for £250 from somewhere in yeovil some time in 2003!!!!! it cost me £150 to get it up to motherwell,the roof was mangled,put new discs pads on it when got it and new timing belt and all gaskets and new dizzy and leads etc then about 8 months ago a noticed a wht mint roof on ebay and the guy was 5 miles away! managed to get it frame etc for £100 quid and a good few othe bits door cards rubbers etc for an extra tenner! so won a watch there! Guest scottishstu Posted April 24, 2010 Share Posted April 24, 2010 todays progress..... got rest of of the interior out air vents etc boot cleared out (was full off all sorts) petrol tank took out exhaust took off some brake pipes removed struts took off both sides drums took off both sides full back axel now off took a wee while getting it on the ramps as it wasnt running then onto axel stands so got a good bit done... so now just fuel pipes rest or brake pipes to remove and thats underneath totally stripped.ready for to be cleaned up and under coated the axels drums etc be cleaned and given a fresh coat of paint (maybe tommorw?) and while there all off may as well replace all the bushes! think thats it for the mo? oh and my nice clean garage aint so clean now! lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
