Thought i'd stick a thread up for my mates cabby he bought of a member on here.

Well, a new hood is here, gonna be fitted soon.

Fitted a new ignition

I have tinted a set of Mk3 lights to go on it

Have to replace the radiator, but i think i have one at home for it.

Well, started taking the bits off of her, the bumpers are in next doors body shop being re-sprayed.

Sorted out the very little amount of rust on her, and started filling all the little dinks and dents preparing her for the vinyl wrap.

She is now sanded back and ready for the wrap

Roof is going to be a black one.

Not gonna say what colour vinyl wrap is going to be yet though, although the vinyl has turned up today

Well the wrapping has begun

Although it is only the passenger wing at the moment as Ian and Angela are doing it in between jobs, and work is very busy at the moment.

The camera didnt quite pick up the sparkle in the vinyl and the weather didnt help either.

Hopefully more updates over the next few days.

looking good,, how much does it cost if you dont mind me asking?

Prices vary on wrapping as per what vinyl is needed and what colour/style.

JDM Graphix average price for a car is the £600-700 mark.

BUT

For a cabby it will be a bit cheaper again as you have no roof and B pillar etc to wrap. The advantage with the Mk3 and Mk4 Escorts is that the shape of them makes working with the vinyl so much easier.

The main costs of the job is

1, Price of the actual vinyl

and

2. The prep work.

If you want a good finish you must spend the time filling and sanding all the little dinks and dents. This can sometimes take up to 2 days on its own. Whereas if its done previous to them recieving the car, the car is in and out in its fresh new colour scheme in 2 days.

Advantages of the vinyl wrap are

If you have an accident, a replacement panel to be wrapped can be done in an hour or less. Far less time than a re-spray

It can be removed to reveal your original paintwork underneath as good as the day it was wrapped

No polishing, waxing, claying or what not. A quick wipe over with a damp cloth and its back to good as new

Wow, Fantastic job there. I thought about wrapping my car but the cost was putting me off. Do you have to inform DVLA of the colour change? I imagine the police would show an interest if your reg comes back as a gold cab, yet it looks purple. Ok so its nothing serious, but just loads of hassle
