  1. hi malcolm there's a spray shop at nayland called motts and my nephew had some work done by them and said they were fantastic might be worth giving them a call.
  2. its a 5mm bar that'll slot in nicely when the pully is on the marker if the timing is right.
  3. you can not alter the timing on a zetec it is controlled by the ecu but if someone has not put cam belt on properly the timing can be out there is a mark on bottom pully and a bar to lock the cams in right position if these are correct the timing is correct (well as far as i belive).
  4. hi mcbob i'm not sure i have one what does it look like and where will it be.
  5. look in the usefull cab information tab at the top of your screen there is a guide there
  6. there is no timing that can be done its all done through ecu i would give it a good service, leads and plugs are common fault areas on zetecs also make sure you get the right grade of oil as the zetecs have hydrolic lifters in and need the right oil. i would also do the cam belt if your keeping the engine but get it running right first as the cam belt is expensive to do. i totally rebuilt mine so did everything if you need any more advise just ask and i'll try to help as much as possible. if the cam belt was put on slightly wrong the timming can be out but you can check it if you want to know how just ask.
  7. hi mate i'm running a 2.0ltr zetec with the mk4 efi loom and ecu and it pulls like a train maybe you need to check engine to make sure its ok if you need any more info let me know. i see it's the 1.8 if its the 130bhp model it should go like the clappers it might be an ecu issue or engine try swapping the ecu to start with.
  8. it idles spot on no hunting at all maybe a little fast at 950 rpm but ok
  9. i'll look at throttle position sensor this weekend but don't have lamba or maf
  10. hi fella lets start again when you say you've changed from mfi to efi did you change the whole engine or just the inlet manifolds.
  11. i've tried that and tried another one but still no luck.
  12. hello i'm running a 2.0ltr zetec in my mk4 with green filter induction kit and efi inlet with 2.0ltr injectors,mk4 efi wiring and ecu but nearly ever time i come to a junction the engine revs die and i end up stalling and ever have to bump it or restart her up. any advice will be welcome the current tickover is set at 950 revs. as below
  13. hi fella most fuel regulators are feed a vacum pipe from the inlet manifold
  14. i'm telling you been there and done it, if you have fuel and spark it must be timing
  15. it sounds like a timing issue but i'm sure someone on here will have more of an idea. i hope you sort it come on people HELP them out
  16. hello again people just a quick update, over the cold holiday i striped the gearbox off and took out clutch and exchanged it at our local motor factors but couldn't see a lot wrong with it,anyway they exchanged it and i fitted the new one and hey presto no more clutch judder and while i was about it i fitted new gaz shocks with 30mm lowered springs and heres a couple of photos. next job is to do the back end i've got poly bushes and lowering kit to do so hurry up the warmer weather.
  17. hi fella its the blue one red and yellow are linked to fuel pump and green is abs.
  18. well another quick update after driving it for a while and ironing out some problems from drive shafts poping out to overheating, i just started to trust it and go further afield. but i did find that the exhaust was a little to loud, it was ok around town but a real dronne on long trips so went back to power flow and had another box fitted which also improved the bottom end pulling power the zetec must need the back pressure, so not to bad then on the way home the clutch started playing up and i now have a massive amount of clutch judder at the bite point and will have to wait till xmas to drop box of again and have a look i wouldn't mind but put the rs turbo clutch in to start with. mind you i will do the 30mm lowering while its up on stands and a little bit of painting as well so lets hope for a couple of dry days.
  19. it's more than likely an earth problem take all earths near indicators and clean them all including the earth point on body then put them back.if it can't find a direct earth it'll go through the headlight to get to earth and along the way it'll light the bulb.
  20. i can't remember of the top of my head but if you go to local factors and ask them to look in there book it'll tell you there.
  21. i'm not sure if this will work or not but i thought it was worth a try. sorry it didn't work just forget this post
  22. well here you go, just some more photo's to keep you posted. i have put newer interior in and there is a picture of rear end with new exhaust exit on, next time she's up in air i'll get some better pics. i've brought 30mm lowering springs and gaz shocks i am also looking at uprated gearbox mounts and i'm going to strip head down to try and find the boiling over problem, so i've purchased all the seals and gaskets for that. i still don't trust her so i'm not taking her out to far and will spend the winter doing the above plus electric roof and rear poly bushes which i allready have in the garage. its all go, but i love it (the mrs isn't impressed but sod her it's my toy)
  23. lets hope so marky the cv joints on a mk4 1.6 are all the same (turbo or non turbo)so there shouldn't be a problem there i might have a weak clip on driveshaft so i think i'll get new ones from fords and refit them again. fingers crossed...
  24. well just a quick update i have had exhaust fitted £280 from manifold back in stainless from powerflow (sounds a little loud but i'm well happy) car has mot but have a few teathing problems i think head gasket isn't right as it boils over before fan switch comes on and it seems bloody hot under bonnet but i'm running the fan all the time so i can use it. then the other day the drive shaft poped out (not 100% sure if it was in right to start, but 95% sure it was so think it poped out under load) it does worry me ????? does anyone know if you can upgrade the drive shafts ?????? i have also changed the interior for a 90's spec interior. and will post some more pictures soon.
  25. hi if your bleeding properly you should open nipple, get someone to push pedal and hold it down, shut nipple then release pedal. and keep doing this untill fluid comes out or get yourself an easy bleed (i prefer the old ways there best).
