  1. well i pulled the cab out of the garage and started to strip it ready for zetec conversion i have collected a nice group of parts and bits that i need to do it, but the efi loom i've required doesn't look complete below are the pics of what i've got, have a look and some advice will be most welcome just remember i'm changing a mk4 carb to zetec with efi. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj104/badger180/010.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj104/badger180/011.jpg i brought these of ebay they said mk4 efi loom ,ecu, with head and inlet monifold but the inlet manifold is different to the one i have fitted to zetec as below http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj104/badger180/004.jpg
  2. right as far as i know the engines are the same but you will need to change the fuel system including tank, lines, pump etc etc engine loom with ecu and inlet manifold you should be able to put both cars side by side and just swop everything that ain't the same. there are many people on here that will know far more than me and i'm sure you'll get the answers you want.
  3. cheers people i think i'm just about ready to go but i'm sure they'll be plenty of head scraching done over the easter week.
  4. come on people someone must know
  5. hi people well all is going well for my easter hit on my mk4 i have 2.0ltr zetec with all the mods done and i have efi loom and exhaust manifold on way NOW i need a little info on the fuel side i am currently running a 1.6 cvh carb with manual pump so i know i need a fuel pump and i think i need a fuel regulator but what about a swill pot ???????????????? if you know anything let me know i need to order the bits so i'm ready to go.
  6. spoke to local powerflo people and he quoted me about £400 from manifold back for a custom built stainless system with one backbox and a choice of tail pipe i've found a 4 branch manifold for £200 so for about £600 i can have the whole system .
  7. cheers chaps i think i'll go that way, it may cost a couple of shakles but will be worth it.
  8. hi peeps well it's nearly time and i'm sorting out the bits i need for my zetec conversion on my mk4 and was wondering what exhaust systems you lot had fitted or seen? i was thinking of getting a zetec 4 branch manifold from ebay and then going to my local powerflo exhaust centre and getting them to make the rest but if theres an easier way i'll look at it.
  9. some don't like them ?????? i do and if you remove yours let me know i've been looking for a set for ages just be carefull when you take them off.
  10. done all mine last year very simple and i used a sealey flaring kit which i borrowed from a mate.
  11. ok fella thanks for the help i'll contact ya when i'm up and running on the project i'll also post pics as i go so everyone can see what i'm doing and refer to it if they need.
  12. i get what your saying i was going to look for a scraped escort with efi and take everything i need, i know a few lads that work in the scrap yards they said they'll bell me if one comes in.
  13. very nice indeed i don't think mine will ever look like that i'm not a show type of man just want more power.do you know anyone who has a zetec conversion with twin 40's or am i better to go down efi route (it seems thats what they all have) and remember i have a 1.6 cvh carb at the mo.
  14. cheers for that fella i'll have a look still not sure what direction i'm going in but hey what the hell, nothing ventured, nothing gained
  15. also just remembered ignition system as cvh has dissy and zetec is electronic.
  16. hi gang well here goes i have a mk4 1.6 carb and want to put 2 ltr mondeo lump(which i have in garage) in i know i need to replace sump, flywheel, water pump etc etc. what i need to know is fuel system? do i go for twin 40's or injection (what would i need to do this), exhaust solutions (what best for this)and i'll need to upgrade brakes as well (it's no good going like s**t if you can't stop the bugger) i'm pretty good with a spaner and have rebuilt a zetec after head gasket went, replaced clucth's and done straight forward engine swaps so i'm ready to take on anything just need as much advise to steer me in the right direction and pick up the views of those that have done this before...any help will be most welcome....
  17. HI FELLA. YEA THE COMPANY WERE FLO-FLEX POLYURETHANE AND THEY HAVE AN EBAY SHOP. THEY DO MAKE A DIFFERANCE WITH EVERY THING BEING A BIT TIGHTER AND STIFFER AND THE QUILATY WAS OK, I WOULDN'T SAY BRILLIANT BUT THEN AGAIN YOUR NOT PAYING SUPER-FLEX PRICES. AND A FRONT STRUT BRACE WILL HELP BUT THE CAB'S HAVE A REAR ONE BUILT IN ALREADY SO DON'T BOTHER WITH THAT .
  18. hi fella this might help i brought some from ebay and paid £100 roughly for both sets front and back for my mk4 i think mk3 and 4 are the same,it might be worth a look. but remember you have to replace a lot more than just the bushes you really need to replace all balljoints as well i have done the front and replaced steering rack ,track rod ends and both lower arms costing about another £100 for pattern parts. and then you've still got to get your tracking redone.
  19. now i know this sounds daft but i done it once on my mk4, have you had the track rod ends off i once in my wisdom put them back on upside down (ok you can stop laughing) the ends are tapered but they fitted so in my haste put them on. the car was ok untill about 40 then all over the place, i had the tracking done then drove round the block and it was miles out and it wasn't till i went to scrap yard to get another steering rack that i spotted the problem so just have a quick check.
  20. cheers fella i thought it was but wanted to check first many thanks again for the help.
  21. i couldn't find the guy on ebay but thanks i can get one tomorrow from fords as i need it for weekend .
