  1. Well its been back on the road now since start of March, nearly covered 160miles now. Took it to a show yesterday and on the way back noticed the oil pressure light on, pulled over straight away, oil level was good, checked sensor connection that was good started the engine and all sounded fine, light went out. Set off and not long after light came on, it went out after 2000rpm, so thought either ring breakdown or chance it, luckily I was only around 7 miles from home so I kept the revs so light was off and switched engine off at traffic lights. Got the car in the garage at home, let it cool down a bit, up on axle stands, fitted the sender unit I have for a new TIM electric oil pressure gauge, put the car back on the wheels, wired up the gauge and started the engine which was still warm, 50psi at idle, had it running for a minute or so, next thing the dash light comes on, gauge says 50psi and increases when revved. So a faulty oil pressure switch is the answer which I have to admit is a massive relief, new 1 ordered and I will now get the gauge properly mounted in the car along with an additional water temp gauge and either a oil temp or voltage gauge. I also have another fan switch to fit as the s2 escort turbo switch I fitted is bringing the fans on far too early. The car will be going in the bodyshop in the near future for a new front bumper (modded slightly to get more cold air through to radiator) and to have the bonnet painted and front wings, due to stone chips on the bonnets front edge. Wheels will hopefully be refurbed this month too.
  2. I would replace the cambelt too as it may have perished.
  3. 1600cvh was the biggest cvh we had in escorts over here, afaik people have converted naturally aspirated to forced induction, so no reason why it can't go the other way, pistons and rods probably are the differances. They were available as carb or injection too.
  4. Nice, I like the 2 tones, esp the white/grey.
  5. Mine is a 89 with half leather zolda, but 88 spec bumper, its log booked as some special edition though.
  6. Copper pipe looks a good replacement. Not sure I would paint the drive flange faces that the brake disc is going to sit against.

    Oil Leak

Sump gasket. Sump, front crank seal, rear crank seal, dipstick seal, cam cover, distributor oil seal, camshaft oil seal are all possibilities.

    Oil Leak

Could be all manner of things leaking, if you have a jack and axle stands you might need to safely support the vehicle up on stands and get under with a torch and have a look.
  9. It looked like my cabriohad been there when I blew it up lol
  10. Last picture above Dennis. The pulley with the orange circle has become damaged.
  11. Looks cracking mk3. paint work has come up really well.
  12. Your doing well with it, not sure regarding the bump stops as mine came with the kit fitted, I think it was a -60mm kit, I've since raised it up a bit.
  13. Alive and kicking, let the bedding in of the rings commence.
  14. Looks smart, the ofam ecu is a good move, Rob from boost monkeys is a top bloke, who you gonna get to map it?
  15. Great looking car you have there.
  16. Looking nice and fresh with a new coat of paint Ian.
  17. So got the engine back today and onto the stand, gave the block a lick of paint. Refitted the sumps and got the Ford head gasket in place. Bolted the head down All reassembled time up etc ready to bolted back in the bay tomorrow.
  18. Does it have a alarm light? is that functioning as normal. Are the injectors pulsing?
  19. Got the engine and gearbox out this morning, hopefully crack on with a bit more this week.
  20. Well as some of you know I had so me difficultys on the way to ford fair, I know I have to get the head off and see whats what, Bit wet in No 4 exhaust port. You can see where the gasket has blown between the fire ring and the water jacket, which is what I expected to find. So now the plan is, head pressure tested and skimmed, new head gasket and the block faced, so it looks like a strip down of the bottom end, which means a load of other bits, so I better get the engine right out now lol.
  21. Well as a few of you know, I broke it going to ford fair yesterday, Well thats the least fuel its ever used going to a show, I will update my project thread when I've stripped it.
