hi i am afraid the first thing to do is get yourself some good seat covers then with trial and error try to adjust the windows with the adjuster behind the door cards you will no if you have gone to far as when you shut the door you will have a gap up the side of the window sometimes you can just push the glass under the rubber from outside be carefull though you can also adjust the roof handles a little bit more see if that helps but i am afraid joys of owning a soft top ollie

thanks mick i am on my second battery now cos thats what i thought so do i have to take earth of the battery then volt meter between live and earth on the battery and if i have power drop when fuse out it is ok cheers m8

hi all a slight problem i have on the mrk 5 dash if the car is left for a couple of days the battery drains flat i have replaced the battery had the rac check the alternater and is charging fine one thing i notice was the elecy ariel was up and down with the ignition so i have disconnected that the radio turns off with the key out any ideas would be good and if i put a volt meter on when running what should i get please and if not running aswell thanks ollie the ony other thing i can think of is an imobiliser light on the dash ????

thanks billy yeah the under neath is not bad m8 once i get it back from the workshop looking like an escort lol i will start stripping the under side and give it a good going over clean and replace any thing that has gone to far rust wise ollie

well a few more pics getting there slowly but surely hoping to get the car down to the workshop in the next few weeks to start the front end rebuild inner wings and outer plus front end and a few repairs to the rear end aswell looks very sorry for itself at the moment but haveing seen a few pics of jonny bs and andys when they first started gives me some hope lol i have managed to get hold of a rs 1600 engine and gearbox but still unsure what to do with it it is all there ecu and loom and from what i can gather they are a good engine to have ( we shall see ) the rs 1600 engine is a modified 1600 cvh incorperating a special head and uprated camshaft with adjustable valve rockers and tougher valve springs with fuel injection deceleration fuel cut off and computerised ignition will it make much of a differance here it is i hope so i have also got the front anti roll bar set up too i have heard good things about these heres a few pics of underneath the car just a small hole there the fuel pump getting there slowly but surely the wheels ready to be detyred

hi matt get yourself some G3 and a machine polisher with a white mop head ( be carefull of edges and corners m8 ) or take it to your local valeting company and they will do it for you for around £60 outside only

hi mick hope you have sorted it m8 yeah i had the same problem on the mrk5 blue one too and there is a lip on the inside that the rubber sits and holds on to although the rust had got to it on the drivers side lol and was not there cheers ollie

well picked the engine and gearbox up today come on peeps tell me the pros and cons of this setup please i have done some homework but all well above my head l;ol here it is

good cos i got one of them too so straight in then with no problems

hi all what will be involved in changing from a 1600i mfi engine and gearbox to this setup please ESCORT RS1600i ENGINE AND GEARBOX. IT COMES COMPLETE WITH ECU AND WIRING LOOM. IT IS STILL FITTED WITH CRANK SENSOR AND TWIN COIL PACKS thanks in advance ollie

staying standard for now billy i am going to get it back to its former glory or as it should be the engine is sweet as and has had only 3 keepers and low mileage so maybe one day lol

well i got a price today on the panels local to me wings are £26 each inner wings £12.95 each front panel complete £38 bonnet £65 not bad realy i can get them a bit cheaper but by the time i pay delivery and as this is local to me i can collect them all next week

not sure about brave allblue more stupid lol the inner wings dont seem that bad apart from what you can see at the front in the pic . like the front outer wing where the light adjusters are were rotten the front panel where it met the wings was the same too but to my suprise all the arches were spot on not a bit off rot behind the kit the rear boot has gone on the floor and below the rear lights aswell a water trap and the only other concern is the fuel neck is rotten not bad realy lots more pics to come once i get in and disturb all that rust with a hammer and a grinder lol ollie

hello peeps your not wrong about having my work cut out i have been up in the workshop and taken the wings and front off IF YOUR SCARED OF RUST LMAO LEAVE NOW :wow: well this is how i left it at the last visit then started with the wing offside then the nearside kin spotwelds are good well now i am worried the inner wings at the front are pretty much fooked i think :taz:

thats it for now roof is off doors are off just got to take the front wings and front panel off and see where to go from there what do you think
