Guest Keir
Hi All, Bought my XR3i project nearly two years ago, MOT'd and taxed. Had a couple of months having fun driving it then took it off the road in July 2013. After stripping the car the main plan was to get the car, body and panels perfect for spraying. Panel wise I have since fitted a new front panel, battery tray, fuse box area with everything else being welded and panel beaten. Areas that have been welded are the full boot floor, two floor welds, wheel arch weld, cut old door and welded to new door, fuel filler area, plus various minor bits and pieces. On my restoring of the car I picked up a very cheap Cosworth bodykit and learned alot about fibre-glass, wheel arches had to be cut to accommodate wider wheels. Hopefully ready to paint, inhouse, in the summer. At present I am currently debating wither to recondition the existing XR3i engine (98,000 miles) or RS Turbo engine or 18ZeTec route. Also wondering about if I can fabricate a leather interior from another car, say a BMW to fit into the escort shell.
Skittles80
After spending all that time and money I would go the zetec route so it geos as well as it looks as for the leather route you could carefully strip the cloth get it remade in leather then recover your self there is a bloke some where on here who deos a fantastic job of all things leather good luck will look good when finished

Guest El87cabi
As above, a well done Cossie kit on a mk4 looks great and the work you've done so far is. As Ian said go fiesta turbo as the efi makes it more tuneable or 2l zetec turbo lump so you've got less tuning to do for a quicker car
