Is It Just Because She's 25 Years Old

Hi again everyone as I has said before I bought Jessy in December (I love her) he's a H reg 1990. She is in really good condition but her roof has issues. First the stiching has gone on the seems in two places. Second the roof seems quite brittle, can I rub wax or some kind of oil onto it? I'm told it PVC but as I said before I'm so new to all of this. Last of all I have to get the roof started up and down. The motor works but does not seem to have enough power to start it off. Is this just due to her age? It's a worry because at the moment the roof is a two man job. And I don't want to wait to take her out I just want to play. Thanks in advance post-16784-0-72738000-1423477808_thumb.jpg

Hi

Great looking car.

Your roof will be vinyl.

I use autoglym vinyl protector on mine to keep the vinyl supple.

Has the car seen much use. I presume if it has been garaged for long periods of time the roof could be harder to operate.

Check an lubricate the roof frame linkages and check the roof pump in the boot to ensure there is enough fluid in the system. Maybe also trying to bleed the system as there might be air locks in the system. Haynes manual explains the procudure well.

Roof should be easy to operate in manual by one person- did you release pressure in the sytem by opening the tap on the roof pump first?

Hi all

Yes she was garaged for the last 5 years and I have an inkling her roof had been kept down! I'm going to have a look through the Haynes and a look at the pump and will let you know how I get on
