Guest suffolk04 Posted August 6, 2014 Share Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) 2X £2 coins fit in the gap in the drivers side Can just fit 1X £2 coin in the pass side Drivers floor and speaker cover soaked, Passenger side dry. If anyone has any advice, please help me out, just had a new mohair roof fitted, spending loads on different seals etc on ebay, and not much of summer left to enjoy her. Dash needs to come out ideally to get to the hinges for movement, this will give you lift, if you want it pulled in you need to move the part on the door b pillar, loosen the hex and move inwards, but that won't give too much at the end you have the problem Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest ANDYA Posted August 17, 2014 Share Posted August 17, 2014 Looking at your pics, I wonder if the problem is the alignment of the quarter window, rather than the whole door? Does the rest of the door sit ok, with reasonable gapping and alignment? If this is the case, it's possible to remove the window guide that forms the vertical frame for the quarter window. The quarter glass can then be pulled out and you can apply gentle pressure to the top of the frame to push it in, closer to the A pillar. This is best done with the door open and a large block of wood in the door frame to give you room to move the quarter frame. You could also try the short cut method of leaving the glass in and applying pressure to improve the alignment. There is the risk of breaking the glass if you're too heavy handed. The quarter window unit really is quite weak and the glass rising too high against the roof rubber would act as a lever. Put the window at its lowest setting and try moving the quarter window. You'll be surprised how easily it pushes in. Be careful not to overdo it and risk the glass. The high window position you refer to is probably the reason for the rain getting in. You could try a suitable bolt to limit the height, from memory it is just there to resrict the movement of the lower window rail. Let us know how it goes. Guest ANDYA Posted August 17, 2014 Share Posted August 17, 2014 The last time I worked on this was to convert a standard XR3i door into one that would fit a cabriolet. This meant I removed all the glass. It is not too difficult, use the Haynes (sounds like Star Wars ). With the vertical guide and main glass removed, you can pull out the quarter glass easily. Fine adjustment of the upper frame is do-able with no glass to risk. If you leave the main glass in it's impossible to withdraw the quarter glass as the frame is still fixed in place.
