New Cabriolet Faults ***help**

hi iv just picked up a 1990 efi cabriolet which would not start with out a jump , bought a new battrie but still the same any ides ??

 

Also heater not workin

 

power roof not workin

 

any ideas any one

I take it the new battery is new not second hand new

could be something simple with the heater

have you been trying the power hood with ignition switch on first turn of the key

 

let us no how you get on

If your new battery is ok I would be looking at the main live and earth leads and their connections, starter motor could also be past its best.

 

When you say heater so you mean the blower is not working or the heater produces no heat?

 

Regarding the hood, as Ollie says, does it work with key on first click?

hood now workinh its as you said only works on first turn of key I forgot i bypass this on my other one

 

as for the heater/ blower it does not work on blower settings

no probs steve easy mistake

the heater could be easy fix like fuse or the heater control inside .or worst case is the motor

Does the engine turn over with the new battery,or just dead ?

Steve - Starting problem could be faulty s/motor. A simple test that sometimes works is get someone to turn ignition key while you give the s/motor a sharp tap with a bar or something you can reach it with. If the engine turns over its a good bet that the s/motors faulty. As for the heater, it could just be a fuse or even a faulty fuse box, specially if you find anything else electrical not working.
