I made a 'removable' hard top for Bigcab. It weighed a tonne. lol.

Did it work? Yes

Did it look good? Debatable. lol

I would be interested in your plans / thought pattern for this?

Good luck.

  • 2 weeks later...

hi alanman my plan is to place a metal skin over the top of the folding frame starting in the next week had trouble getting a gas bottle for my welder plus got wing to weld on too and de lock and de handle so hope it works as i need a new roof any way so if don't work will just buy new roof but as the roof is built will put pics on so it comes down to the weather as i'm working outside as no garage so watch this space for pics

I made it a REMOVABLE hard top.

I removed the canvas first then welded the roof frame while up so it wouldnt fold, and simply re-skined it with fibreglass.

If I did another one it would be sooooo much better (and lighter). There was a lot of hurdles/problems.

Fibreglass

Cut a cabby back window back in. Its all about detail. lol.

Finished. I was not 100% happy with the finish really. Could have been so much better if I'd had more time.
