I have started to treat the rust on the escort, using good ol' elbow grease, an angle grinder and a wirebrush... didn't realise just how rotten it was... but not unfixable , below are some pics!

The car comes back from the welder tomorrow, time to rebuild to see what the mot guy has to say

I have quite a few bits for sale, the RS front bumper valance (i think thats what it called), full 88 spec body kit (wheel arch, sideskirts, front and back bumper), pepper pot alloys, mondeo alloys

Put it in for the MOT today, it failed on the following:

  • Offside Side repeater insecure - New pair coming this week
  • (both) Headlamp too high - Easy fix.
  • Nearside front lower Suspension arm ball joint dust cover excessively deteriorated - Can only buy a pack of 10??
  • Offside Steering rack gator split - New air coming this week
  • Offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort, offside rear brake recording little or no effort, service brake efficiency below requirements - to be fixed this coming weekend

it got advised on these:

  • Welding repairs to outer sills
  • Offside and nearside rear and offside front brake pipes heavily corroded - To be repaired at a future date
  • Nearside cv boot perished - New one coming this week

Anyone know where i can get just 1 or 2 lower suspension arm ball joint dust covers from?

The welding was done, not sure why it was an advisory, but he said it was a good job?

Been a while since i updates this post ... I MOT'd the car today with only 1 advisory which was the front tyres being perished but thats fine, as they are on Mondeo 16" alloys, and i have a set of Series 1 RS turbo alloys to go on (in need of tyres).

So i will be bringing it to Ford Fair this year .... still not on any stand though as its still in need of a whole lot of body work...
