Help please.... My insurance is up for renewal and my hubby has started modifying my cab. So when I declared the body kit spoiler etc...the price went through the roof......lol. Not even mentioned about wanting it resprayed... Lowest 950 fully comp.

Anyone know any cheap insurance companies I can go to that specialise in low cost modified cars....

Please.....

Adrain flux is your best bet but it will still be expensive. If the kit is standard ford i wouldn't bother telling them as they were available as options so there never going to be able to do anything on that point.

My insurance is almost 200 a month. I haven't declared the things like the rims and lights etxc etc because I didn't want them anyway so the standard replacements I'd get in a crash wouldn't matter... You got to weigh up wether the spoilers actually worth the extra £x a month or not, and whether you'll still be technically covered if you don't declare it....

You got to be careful not declaring stuff. Insurance companies are well within their rights to void your insurance if you have an accident.

You've still got to be careful with 'Options'. Insurance companies dont need a big excuse these days to refuse a claim. Insurance companies and their engineers are not daft and if they suspect foul play and think they can get away with paying out thousands they will pay people to investigate. I've known them contact the previous owners before.

Sorry for being a square, but i thought I'd give the warnings. lol.

I Have two cabs the first no mods was £152. Just insured the second £158 with adrian flux.

The second has a full rs kit on and different wheels didnt tell insurance because I am taking it all off.(needed to move it off drive so had to tax it)

at the moment its too cold to start taking kit off and mot is due end of March so will put it in for that before I take kit off.

Does look good with kit on though

I bought the second cab for spares,(did have Mot ant tax and the part I wanted a brand new heated front screen ) but when I went to collect it and saw the condition of it I couldnt break it lol (there both mk4's 88 and 89)

So ended up with two

The insurance is even without using my no claims thats on my modern ca,r also there parked on the drive I dont have a garage

so feel lucky getting it so cheap

I'm with Peter D James for our one. 2 people, aged 32, no no-claims bonus used, unlimited mileage, valued @ £4,500 by the insurance company and we pay £142 for the year with all modification delclared on like-for-like replacement and salvage retention in the event of a total-loss. Any repairs to be done @ a garage of my choice and with only genuine parts fitted unless I agree otherwise.

No idea what mine is to be honest. Last year the bill was £800 ish for me fully comp with 2.0 Mondeo, 1.8 mk5b Si cab and 1.6 Mk5b cab. 33, 2 years NCB, through Admiral Multicar.

I'm declaring all mods when Juliette comes back from it's latest "tweaks", so that's going to be scary.....

just an intresting point , ive just canceled my renewel on my cab insurance as its to much to pay for the use it gets but ive just read, the emails they sent me and my no claims bonus is the same. ie not earned another year, after talking to aidrian flux they have now told me "yes thats right you insured it as a classic cover and you dont accumalate no claims bonus's."

they never told me this when i took out insurance so be carefull what you get in your policy when you insure on a classic cover.

yeah you dont get no clams when you use classic car insurance.

insurane all depends on so many factors, mainly your postcode.

where its kept at night and during the day etc its not all down to the car, going back a few years now when i got my first mk4 cab it was insurance group 16 out of 20, rs turbo was only a group 14! not sure if thats still the same story.

ive paid various amounts for mine, 2600 a year (i was 18/19) and as low as about 450 a year the last time i insured the cab, nearly a year ago
