Finally had a look at the brakes today

Really wished i hadn't :sad:

 

Ne-way, after some wire brushing, a scrounged slave cylinder off the old cabi and some new brake shoes....

Great! no leaks :smile: Infact no leaks whatsoeverl as the bleed nipple refused to budge :angry:

The air was as blue as my car.

 

(At this point the photo's stop as the photographer is too wound up to remember to take any)

 

After a quick trip to bennets for 2 new brake cylinders followed by a lot more spannering (and swearing before bleeding the brakes a second time) it was time to fit some other shoes

Thanks, I'm still debating the SE500 question, i spoke to an SE500 owner at ford fair but all i discovered was they come with trip computers as standard and obviously it shoud have a blue hood. Does anyone have any ideas?

To think i was driving on this, i knew something was wrong but damn!

Utter rubbish. Not only did it stick miles out the back it rubbed on the frt of the left rr swing arm.

Good riddance

This is to show Halfords temperarture resistant paint well isn't, this mfi manifold was painted thursday pic was taken sat :dry:

 

Other work done

2 bolts added to fully secure throttle body to inlet manifold = improved throttle response and idle - no surprise there

Brakes rebleed and handbrake adjusted correctly (2 clicks :biggrin: )

Rocker cover gasket changed

Oil, filter and sump plug changed

Hub, knuckle and bearing replaced

Power hood rebleed

Mint condition linkage with new return springs fitted - BIG difference

Looks like who ever did the wheel bearing last put it back with fag ash and spit instead of grease lol

 

I looked at halford high temp paint a while ago and it said it was good up to 200 degrees. Manifold and turbo can get nearer 400 and more on turbo. Would be careful as the paint can ignite as can exhaust wrap as i have found out lol

Hi all, time for another update on the SE :smile:

Thing's have been moving slowly of late due to my searching out a donor car, getting closer but it's still not on my driveway so i thought i'd stick a temporary radio in her - simple, or so 1would think........

Still looking, by this point both frt seat's are out, i did find a yellow plug on a grey/violet cable with power, god knows what that's for, better get the headtorch on and have a look under the dash - my backs gonna love this, not

Thanks, lol. Worst part is the salvaged 1 leaks to so i gotta do the whole job again!!

That said, i have been told my mate John i may have gone a bit ott on what i took out, apparently all that has to go is radio surround, heater controls then once you have the pipes clear slide the matrix out depressing the clutch pedal to get it clear. Who new? I certainly didn't, lmao

 

Neway, popped up the A1 to pick up a mate friday and ended up here before we got back to mine :sad:

Great :dry: . After a 2 hour wait for the rac (at the pub nearby :wink: ) it turned out i'd snapped a driveshaft coming off the roundabout, good thing really, it snapped at the wheel end, on the thread!!

Well thats being sorted monday so today i got started on this :smile:

I thought i'd do this as a step by step guide, 1st, disconnect the battery

Remove HT leads and inlet pipe

Disconnect throttle response sensor

Disconnect old ISCV (this is a 2nd gen model, 1st gen ISCV is located on the airbox lid

Disconnect pipe from ISCV to throttle bodies

Disconnect servo

Disconnect fuel pressure regulator

Disconnect whatever that is and unhook the black plug by it, lol

Disconnect MAP sensor

Disconnect throttle cable and depending on model remove the 2 lower bolts to free throttle bodies from throttle cable retaining clip

Unbolt this to get at the nut underneath

Undo all 5 nuts holding the throttle bodies to the manifold then with a bit of careful jiggling

If you lucky you can get away with reusing the gasket

Rebuild is pretty straight forward, the new ISCV pipe now goes to the inlet pipe on top of the rocker cover

You'll find your old ISCV cable won't reach but as this is ford...

All done, i've left the old ISCV for now as John's going to check my handy work and probably have a tinker or correct any mistakes i've made on monday, so no point in removing it til the new mod is running spot on.

 

Hope this helps anyone planning on doing this in the future, only other thing i encountered was my throttle cable holder jammed the throttle lever but nothing a tap to with a hammer to adjust it wouldn't sort, would have been swapping a few other bits over too but now i can't open Bulldog's bonnet, think the release cables come adrift, ffs, any idea's? Lol safe :drivin:

Furthermore you also need to either open the ISCV inlet on the air inlet pipe you connect the new ISCV to or use the 1 off the other car. Found that out today, thanks again John :smile: Well that solved 1 problem for me, now to figure out why my cabi's not rapid as f**k and works better with the Mixture (CO) adjustment potentiometer disconnected?!?!? Missions

Hi all, well i've spent yet more time working on the car after work, changed my heater matrix for the second time, bought a new rad this time so hopefully that doesn't leak.

While i was doing that i noticed the ECU was damp so i took it out and stuck it in the house to dry out for a few days.

Put it back in the car earlier and after swapping the ACT sensor and expansion tank (couldn't see the level well in mine) took the car down the road and it seems most of the faults have gone :smile:

Need to do further testing but fingers crossed
