Ford would have given the car a code during manufacture but they wont have this information on there system as the car is too old. They started building mark 5 cabs late in 91. Think the very first may have appeared on H plate im thinking mine is a very early edition as it has a little badge on the roll over bar and mine was registered in the early part of 1991 the badge is a ford motor company badge on each side of the bar and i cant see the previous owner putting it on as she was 79 years old. how do you work out the info on the vin plate? allblue Posted April 9, 2011 Share Posted April 9, 2011 MK5 cabriolet went on sale Sept 1990. Have your VIN number (not registration) entered into the parts computer and it should bring up the date of build. I had this done for my MK4 a while back when Ford were still using Microcat.
