Guest Charlie 5
Well finally a totally original 1985 Nimbus Grey 1.6i has come up and ive bought it... Then realised its in Eastbourne and im in North Wales.... Whoops.. SO train tomorrow eve from Wrexham to London Euston with 4 changes, gettin in at 00:30, hotel til 7:30, then train to Eastbourne where the seller is picking me up at 10am.... For a 7 hour drive back home...... Car looks great in pictures, arches all perfect, just needs a new roof (the seat bolsters aint even worn...) and has some service history, lets just hope it gets me home and my new girl its as good as she looks.. All for the bargain price of £500...... No wonder there were no other bids if you spell your car as an Esort Convertable..... Know nothing about how many owners etc etc and clock is showing 26000 miles which im presuming is 126000 although the seat aint worn at all... will post pics of her journey back up here and a full report hopefully Friday... This obsession with Dempsey & Makepeace has gone TOO far!!!!. :-)

Guest Charlie 5
Well, it has taken me 8 hours to get home..... Car was absolutely filthy, could hardly see through the glass, sounded very rough and really could do with a respray.. Although NO rust! I was knackered and just wanted out of there..... So he handed me a plastic pocket full of papers and off i goes.... £20 worth of unleaded, oil and water checked and i set off towards 'London' (having forgotten my satnav)... How did i do it before TomTom...? Everything was fine, then the washers stopped working... Ok never mind i thought, then it got dark and the headlamps lit up the sky but not the road, then just on the M6 passing birmingham it starts to stutter so i pulled onto the hard shoulder and it died..... Started it again first time and what appeared to be steam poured out the exhaust.. BY this time i was low on fuel again, so i cautiously drove on and pulled off and filled her up with Super Dooper Unleaded (mortgage is cheaper) and continued on my way thinking 'stuff it' if your gonna die on me, you'll die trying....... By the time i got back to north wales the car felt 20 years younger and that traditional 'rasp' from the exhaust was clearer than ever.... I was sooooo chuffed....... She regenerated before my eyes!!!! Ive looked through all the paper work and the car has covered a grand total of 68 miles since the year 2001.... I gave the man a ring as i thought i must have got it wrong... NOPE, its sat in his garage al this time and now his wife wanted rid... ( I know who id be getting rid of)... So i imagine the tank may have had condensation or something, its even had its cam belt changed in 2007 for it to just sit there.... Im I happy?? HELL YEAH, i cant stop smiling!!! Even the tosser in the blue MGF that was revving his engine next to me at the lights didnt even warrant a respsonse... Did i let him win??? I didnt even try to compete.... Brash, does not equal class...... Long live my girl.... C200 HOO..... Gonna have vodka now........ (pics to follow)
