Guest Flainz
Hi ECC! I live in Denmark, and I have just bought myself an old mk5a Cab, which need a caring hand and some restoration. The caring hand is no problem, I've got lots of love, but it has a smashed left rear arch panel, and that is where I have now found my first problem: I can't find a new arch panel to mount! Ford doesn't sell them anymore and the breakers I have been speaking with can't seem to find the part for me. So, I was wondering if any of you guys know of a place to buy this part? Alternatively, I have been thinking about mounting wide cosworth arches, as I want to make a cosworth conversion anyway, eventually. But do you know if you can fit genuine Escort Cosworth arches? I have heard that they don't fit?? Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated - I hope I haven't taken a larger bite that I can handle with this! For your knowledge, I am a mechanic, and work at a Ford dealership, so I do know a little bit about Blue Oval cars, but I've got absolutely no experience with platework Regards, Nicolai from Denmark Oh, and some pictures of the car:
gingergman
if im honest, id just scrap that and get another mk5, that looks like harsh damage to fix, and mk5s are cheap to buy anyway. just my opinion and fair play if your still gonna fix it
Guest Flainz
Thanks for the opinion, Gingerman, but the problem is, here in Denmark, we have this ridiculously high taxes on cars, and this one is paid. A mk5 in mint condition would at least be about £3000, if counted in pounds. So I'm willing to offer a few coins on it, despite the damage I just need to know how it can be done
RScab
You may need 1 of these Check its the correct part first tho then just a rear quarter + Light + Bumper good luck with the repair

Guest Flainz
RSCab, excuse me, but 1 on which? . And yeah, it really "just" is a rear quarter, ligths, bumper and maybe the rear panel - but that'll do - I just need to find the damn parts somewhere! Heh.. How about the cossie conversion thingy? Can someone tell me something about how it can be done, and can it be done with genuine parts, or do you need a conversion kit??

YOu cant just put cosworth arches on a mk5 escort as the wheel base is all wrong as the escort cosworth has the floor pad on a sierra in it so for all the rear quarter line up the front wings will not and the genuine front bumper requires some major grinding away of chassis structural point to get that to fit also your best bet is to pull out around the back ligth as best you can then fit a fibre glass after market kit at least it will look rite when fitted. Guest Flainz
Ok, thanks for that info, Gavintwopies. I've heard that earlier, but it's always nice to get it confirmed. So, I think the best way to go is - as you say - to try and pull it out, and then fit an aftermarket fibreglass quarter.. Do you know where I can buy this? Or eventually a complete cosworth kit - I'm really a sucker for the EsCos Cab look

Guest tony.rose
Hi there and welcome to the club, I live in France so can appriciate the difficulties in finding parts. I agree keep your eyes on ebay.co.uk, as you will find parts you need, its just the cost of getting it to you. I am in UK in April, so if I can be of any help, just let me know.
