Guest Spudster
Hi Guys, New to the site and introduced myself with a few pics of my car in that section of the forum but talking to a couple of people they asked me to put some pictures up in here monitoring my progress with my project... Here are the origional photos that were taken before i bought the car for £130 (at the moment seems like a bargain): I have done a bit of work over the last couple of weeks (stripping the car) that i will put onto the site this weekend, just thought i would make a start with these. Guest Spudster
Wow, thats a great project, will be fantastic when its done!! Looking forward to more pics! Hopefully will get them on this weekend once i have sorted my software for uploading them to my PC, i have taken loads so far. Getting a bit snap happy! lol. for a £130 its a bargin........ plus you dont see many so thats good to,asuming your keeping it the origanel coulor ? look forward to the progress photos i hope to start mine soon I thought for that price i really cant go wrong, Its got an imobiliser and alarm that worth a lot more than that on so if it was a rot box i could have sold it for parts and made it back. Fortunately it isnt and I can get on with the project, I do plan to keep it the same colour as its quite unique and not many people have this colour anymore so it really does stand out (even with the white door at the moment - haha)

Guest Spudster
Afternoon Guys, What a farce to uplaod photos, I cant find my CD to upload them from my phone so i thought i would use the girlfriends as its the same phone so should be the same cd....WRONG!! After a good 30mins of trying with mine and getting nowhere :throw: I came to the eventual decision to use hers and bluetooth the photos across, a lot of time but i was bored so thought i had time. When I bought the car i decided to have a closer inspection of the exterior (i found a couple of bubbles of expected rust): I decided to strip parts of the exterior and found this: inside of front bumper Front panel ouch So a new front panel is on its way to replace this. I decided to take a couple of pics in the sun of the car in its current best angles (not showing bumpers or white door - lol) But my main problem was a small puddle in the drivers side footwell, so i started stripping the inside of the car: These stank and were so rotten they were falling apart so need to replace these:
Guest Spudster
Got snap happy so took some pics of the back seat area: But there are wires everywhere and im clueless with electrics so dont know what this is for: Its a good job my parents love me and have donated their garage to the cause for the forseable future :wow: : I have done some grinding this weekend but have not taken pics of the results (3 small holes). So will get some this weekend and go through the farce of uplaoding them again. ha! Hope you enjoy the pics, I have to say with the sun shining on the paintwork I think i like this colour even more Any feedback is welcome... allblue
Good luck, you got your work cut out there! That electrical plug is the fuel level sender for the fuel computer
chaz
Mk4's like to go crusty on the front panel behind the bumper, but you seem to have got stuck in so well done. Uploading pics should not be a hassel, open a photobucket account load your pics on there and load on to the site.
Guest benny
not too much work to get it back ,if i remember rightly they only made about 500 of these didnt they? and my mate had one and wrote it off, so that means there is a minimum of 499 lol, so there gettin rarer? Escort Cabriolet Club
As Benny said mate, looks a lot of work but just think of the fun you will have doing it, most of the panels are easy to get hold of, had at least 12 Members fix up Cabs in this condition this year so chin up mate and keep cracking on, plus remember that this is a rare colour too !!! Guest Spudster
Cheers for feedback guys, sorted where the leak was in the car, as expected the battery tray was so rotten that there were two 2 inch holes where water was just poring in. The previous owner obviously knew this and tried to use rubber gloves to plug these but didnt see the size of the holes. Got a new battery tray and measuring out the area to weld in some new metal for the tray to sit on. Thats been put on hold for a couple of weeks though as my girlfriend gave birth to my first child on the 29th of September so got a couple of weeks break before im back into it. Hopefully will have some more pics of the car then with the new battery tray and front panel. Nick

Guest Spudster
WOW that old battery tray is Graphic !!! :wow: Very Graphic, its all gone now, got it all chopped out and new piece of metal ready to weld into place to weld the battery tray to. Also picked up a spare passenger door this morning to replace my current rotten one (I now have matching white doors, shame the cars not white - lol). So hopefully by the end of play tomorrow i will have fitted the new battery tray, new door (£10.50 and its rust free) and i can start removing the front panel and drivers side rear floor pan for the parts im hoping are delivered this week. Will get some pics up when i get chance. But were progressing nicely, on target to be ready for next summer so i can drive and meet you guys (may still have matching white doors then though until i can afford the respray - lol). Also just found a site which can provide the seals for my car so i can replace them myself, just waiting for the quote to get back to me to know how much it will set me back.
