Guest Moggc1
Hi I’m new on here so sorry if this has been asked before but has anyone tried putting a Focus ST (the 2.5T Volvo engine) into an escort? I’m thinking of giving it a go and wanted to see if there was anyone who could give me some advice. I’m not afraid of a bit of fab work and I realise it’s not a straight bolt in affair but would be nice to speak to someone who’s done it! Escort Cabriolet Club
Mountings would need to be changed and if its a Turbo the intercooler/cooling system will have to be properly instaled, I would recomend taking it to a Specialist (or TONY) to get it fitted properly !!! escortcabrioletclub
im liking the idear ...... had thought about it ......... ok well at least you starting with a better biger engine bay ...lol compeared to the mk4 cab you say about start mesuring .... yes good start but i can say now it will go lol if it was me i would strip all out the mk6 bay then strip any acsilarys off engine not being used ..... then bonnet of and hoist engine in the bay then start mesuring and cuting ........ i asume it has the mt6 box ie 6speed? with cables ? is the cab going to be looking origanal from the outside ? ie bodywork ? what hubs you going to be useing ? and what drive shafts ? you need to look at the splines on the shafts see if the same or you could end up with a £700 bill just for shafts with out cv joints lol so need to work it out right unless your willing to throw lots of cash at it ? i take it you will be useing the st loom/ecu ? if not the omex 710 i would recomend good luch i look forward to the updates plus where in the uk are you ? this is my st220 v6 powerd cab
Guest Moggc1
Ahh yes Tony your implant is my inspiration! looks amazing! Im toying with the idea of using all focus running gear so hubs struts etc but need to check out hom much wider the track is on the focus. I have all the wiring and ECU so will use stock for now! No car isn't stock! would be pretty cool to build a sleeper though! its got a full Escort Cosworth Kit, 18's, cos interior. bought it off Eggsy so you've prob seen it on here. ive kinda always hated the all looks and no power thing so was going to turbo it but then saw this engine and though ah ha! My plan would be to take everything out see where its going to foul then break out the grinder and welding gear! but will mean taking the car off the road for a good few weeks so will need to arrange some alternative transport first! Also need to source a few more bits before I can start taking it to bits! Im in Sturminster Newton Dorset seems most of the guys on here are quite a distance away should i need any assistance! not sure if that will work how do you post pics on here?! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i234/moggc1/cos4.jpg
escortcabrioletclub
yes a fear trip from me lol well i hope it works out ..........useing the struts will make things cheeper ....... look forward to seeing the build ...... makes a change from rst all the time lol
Escort Cabriolet Club
Sounds like a plan mate, sourcing all the right stuff was the hard part but you have done that, it will be a beast if you get it in, doubt it will be a problem !!! Nice cab mate, shame the Cossy one is blocking the view lol !!! :happy001:
Guest Moggc1
This is certainly turning into a mammoth build up! I now have the focus struts, pedal box and hopefuly the guy will eventually send the gear linkage cables etc soon! I think then I will just need an intercooler and some head scratching to figure out all the wiring! Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for a new shape focus? Im hoping I can get all the bits before Xmas and then Ill strip out the zetec and start putting it all together! Guest Moggc1
Have been working on the cab all day today! Ive got the old 1.8 Zetec out and dragged the 2.5 turbo under to see how it lines up! Doesnt look like its going to be to much of a problem to get it in situ the wiring etc I think I may have to leave to an expert. here are some pictures of my progress so far. Im still collecting bits but have decided to crack on with what I have! Edited November 30, 2008 by Moggc1

Escort Cabriolet Club
Cool mate, made some progress there, it will be worth it, a fast engine to go with the fast look of the car !!! Nice use of a Hammer !!! :wow: As for the Horns, possible FAIL lol !!! :happy001:
Guest Moggc1
Im hoping to make steady progress over the christmas period still a little nervous about the wiring mind! Will keep the site posted. The horns were an impulse buy! They arent musical ones fortunately ;-) The origanal one fell off on the way back from eggsy's and then i ran over it! then after nearly being reversed into about three times decided I needed new one! Will prob be in the way with the intercooler pipes so may have to put a normal one back in! Thanks for the luck people appriciated and possibly needed! Carl.
