badger
well i thought i'd catch up and let everone know whats been going on with the cab. since instalation i couldn't get it to fire so first things first SPARK NO FUEL NO good start ? looked under dash and remembered there was no relays in holders so sourced some and hey i had both spark and fuel (get in there) but yet still wouldn't start. so after a little head scratching i decided to check timming and bugger me the bloke i brought engine from had only put inlet and exhaust cams on the wrong way round so striped it down and put them back and reset timing. still no start ERRRRRR so swapped everything i could think of ,edis, map etc etc NO NO NO BUGGER after another long talk to tony (thank god his about) i compression tested and NO all were good 155/155/155/165 after further investigation i found one injector not working so swaped it. still a big fat NO so today was check crankshaft sensor and apon getting it out OPPS it broke so that was it. i disconected everything and dropped the engine back out. i stripped gearbox off and took clutch off. and bugger me some idiot (the bloke i brought engine from) had only put flywheel back on in wrong position and could only get 5 of the bolts in, i also found that crankshaft seal was gone so there was a little oil in the bell housing so i stripped it out and i'll replace that and sump gasket while i'm at it. so the moral is don't buy an engine if you havn't heard it runing or you know and trust the person your getting it from. i'll get the camera back out and take some more photo's asap hopefully i'll be back on track soon. badger
well just a quick update i have had exhaust fitted £280 from manifold back in stainless from powerflow (sounds a little loud but i'm well happy) car has mot but have a few teathing problems i think head gasket isn't right as it boils over before fan switch comes on and it seems bloody hot under bonnet but i'm running the fan all the time so i can use it. then the other day the drive shaft poped out (not 100% sure if it was in right to start, but 95% sure it was so think it poped out under load) it does worry me ????? does anyone know if you can upgrade the drive shafts ?????? i have also changed the interior for a 90's spec interior. and will post some more pictures soon. badger
lets hope so marky the cv joints on a mk4 1.6 are all the same (turbo or non turbo)so there shouldn't be a problem there i might have a weak clip on driveshaft so i think i'll get new ones from fords and refit them again. fingers crossed... badger
well here you go, just some more photo's to keep you posted. i have put newer interior in and there is a picture of rear end with new exhaust exit on, next time she's up in air i'll get some better pics. i've brought 30mm lowering springs and gaz shocks i am also looking at uprated gearbox mounts and i'm going to strip head down to try and find the boiling over problem, so i've purchased all the seals and gaskets for that. i still don't trust her so i'm not taking her out to far and will spend the winter doing the above plus electric roof and rear poly bushes which i allready have in the garage. its all go, but i love it (the mrs isn't impressed but sod her it's my toy)

badger
well another quick update after driving it for a while and ironing out some problems from drive shafts poping out to overheating, i just started to trust it and go further afield. but i did find that the exhaust was a little to loud, it was ok around town but a real dronne on long trips so went back to power flow and had another box fitted which also improved the bottom end pulling power the zetec must need the back pressure, so not to bad then on the way home the clutch started playing up and i now have a massive amount of clutch judder at the bite point and will have to wait till xmas to drop box of again and have a look i wouldn't mind but put the rs turbo clutch in to start with. mind you i will do the 30mm lowering while its up on stands and a little bit of painting as well so lets hope for a couple of dry days.
