  1. hi when i changed my mk4 engine from mfi to efi i used the same gearbox but during this i did lose abit of fluid and sounds like its in need of a top up how do you do this ??? a picture would be great with a small diagram due to me being a novice!!!
  2. right i bought a brand new alternator and a new battery £48 problem is i was running engine this morning turned it off try to turn it back on and the battery was flat and couldnt turn the engine over,i did notice that on the clocks the battery light stayed on while the engine was running any suggestions???
  3. got an old mfi loom with the fuel computer loom on it extension on it to join the 2 looms together in engine bay easy to install(open to offers cough cough no computer though i dropped n broke it )

  5. thanks guys will check as soon as whether calms down might be right as its a new belt before engine went in i thought a head and put her on so my guess is she's jumped a notch any tips to get her back without taking engine out??
  6. ever since i rushed into chucking my old mfi engine out and putting an efi into my mk4 i have had nothing but trouble replaced lots of fuses and parts ie crank sensor, throttle body and then i breath life into the engine, it runs fine well so i thought... then the other week i started her up just to prevent her from ceasing up and my mate noticed the rev counter going past 7 and being stuck as she i rev her (gently)and that there were flames coming from the exhaust, it's first time that this has happens any idea's to why this is happening??? also she take's usually 5 attempts to start ??? the only electric fault with car is the clocks, interior light, rear heated screen. besides that everything on the car works. i bought her as a project 1 year 8 months ago she looks ruffer and is no closer to completion and i've spent £700 including purchase and seem to be getting nowhere all help is appriciated as im not one to give up but its squeezing me financially quite hard thanks guys/gals......

  8. I have bought twin Morette headlights but noticed one problem, they have no indicators ! They dont have any built in, one is a fog and the other is normal light with side light, how do I get around this problem because it just leaves the side light visible and someone said this is an mot failure ? HELP !!!!
  9. the electric wing mirror dont work i checked if the switch was connected to main loom yes and connected at doors so im stuck with that one
  10. well umm lights are fixed i think i have a dodgy central locking motor.... electric wing mirror still wont work and they are connected up... and going down to sort the idling out arhhh!!!

  12. ummm changed my mfi 1.6 to 1.6 efi cvh mk4 escort and the accelerator cable wasnt compatible went to fords and got a compatible cable but it was only compatible with the throttle body and not accelerator pedal any suggestions i got a pedal from a mk5 but it means changing the whole pedal block im stuck???
  13. im south wales Cardiff lol battery is well had better days and i think alternator is dead as it doesn't charge battery the clocks worked previously so ignition could be another possibility... i have my day off so i will try to eliminate possibilities such as back lights and bad fuse if any.... also the relays whats the green one for??? under dash? as previously this burnt out and i had to replace wires from relay to fuse box no damaged to any other part of the wiring when this happened i was thinking this could be a factor??
  14. ok right i try to explain my problem abit more clearer!!! problems im having back lights now fixed but appearing to be on the bright side but both sides work fine,all lights function accordingly. I started the car it run then i turned the ignition off but the car was still running....?? also along with this when i start the car(normaly) the rev counter only goes upto 3000 rpm then flickers back down when i give it some throttle, when idling it says 600rpm but when i turn the ignition off and the engine still remains running the rev counter is showing 1500 rpm at idle?? next problem the front lights n/s(passenger side) works fine side lights normal light full beam but o/s(driver side) only works on full beam?? all indicators on car work fine.... and my electric wing mirrors no longer work?? last problem the central locking works but only on o/s it will lock and unlock with no problems... on the n/s it will unlock but not lock every time i go to lock the car from this near side it locks but then straight away unlocks itself...four letter word guys Help""!!!
  15. right i have an efi 1.6 cvh i put a zetec coil pack on this engine but no spark check crank sensor was broke so put new one from a zetec 1.6 along with the coil pack my fuel pump primes after i sorted out a bad wire but no spark so i guess this is the only thing that could be stopping the spark with firing order n so help!!!
  16. put a new working crank sensor in changed coil pack aswell so not sure sensor was from my mates zetec he put it in there new but had to scrap the mk6 piece of crap tin top!! n changed the green fuse with brand new one pump remains dead be easier to get a new full loom anyone have one then let me asap please sensible prices
  17. right i had a mfi engine it was running like a dog so went up country to get me an efi cvh instead with tank conversion n wiring loom n ecu all for 100 not bad got it home had to replace the camshaft sproket was bent so then i worried might have messed internal functions up but no put new one on it turns without scraping or any dodgy noises got the loom in got the tank up connected everything goes to start pump doesn't prime n no spark at front so i find wire coming from petrol tank turns out thats a safety switch the engine is from an orion the switch is usual in the boot so not having the switch on i connect them together n hey presto primes perfect every time ignition is on but still no sprak check fuse's nothing wrong so i wonder then i read on here what it might be crank shaft sensor so i take its out well it snapped so separate box engine drilled it out new one cleaned up fly wheel and tried again nothing n now the pump isnt priming checked the wires nothing has change besides me putting the sensor in so i disconnect the sensor n pump refuses to prime again check fuses n connections n earths nothing.... any ideas or does anyone have a spare loom for a 1.6 efi cvh for mk4 cabby please i think my loom is umm faulty
  18. right i knoiw what edis is and yes i have thius unit it looks in good condition n all linked up properly just a random question would a bad earth effect it having no spark?
  19. aha stupid question to ask what is it? plus i have had a break through while messing about i joined the safety switch wires together n tried it nothing but then i put my mates zetec ecu/brain/silver box on my car nothing put my one back on n it primed¬!!!!! now just got no spark could be anything bad coil pack some1 said to me crank sensor what is it n where ha ha
  20. ha ha ha my mates escort fail mot he has efi zetec so might try that bought the engine from ebay derby n loads of things missing i think its without a safety switch also but before i chuck his lump might try some of them will give u feed back gentleman wish me luck total amatuer!!!!

  22. right i converted my cabby from mfi to efi got map sensor got coil pack with it fitted engine fitted loom fitted tank with fuel pump inside fitted fuel computer(fairly easy) put ecu u onto loom put battery on car tries to turn over fuel computer makes noise but not noise from fuel or no spark from leads so i checked yellow relay looks fine swoped it just incase nothing... hmmm looked at tank there a wire with hard casing coming from tank n 2 connectors on some1 said this might be for fuel cut off switch i know its not for tank i connected this one alreay it goes from one in 2 connection into tank so maybe these wires that are hanging over is stoping the pump from priming i hope also i think coil pack might be naff as bought it second hand from scrappy never again i need help otherwise im going to have to scrap her i dont want to i love this car but its costing me too much.. all help n pictures because im a dumb ass would be greatful also if i get it running from your advice i will put my hands in my pocket n pay for a full membership!!!!!!!!   24. i need windscreen pilliar rubbers for mk4 top of the door triangle plastics both driver side n passenger side n roof rubbers come to the point of puddle in the cabby is unfunny n just damaging the floor im pissed of n so close to having this thing scraped
