If you take your time and don't rush it Pip it takes 20 mins to take out the interior trim, (rear bench and quater cards) and there are only a few bolts holding the roof in once the rear heated screen wires and rams are un-cliped, should take 10 - 15 mins, make sure you have an extra pair of hands to help lift it out (Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim, help !!!) fitting is the reverse, make sure you remember where each screw and bolt goes, you should be done in an hour or so !!!

Let us know if you get it !!! Fit it your self, its time consuming but not hard !!!

Sounds like a redundant system loom, some cars have a full loom but not all the bits to attach, my sisters Rover 25 has no front fog lights but behind the bumper and dash blanks is the wiring, all I need is the switch, lamps and relay, same could be said for your Mk4, it might have the loom but no ABS !!! If in doubt, Alan H is your man for this !!!

What Mk is it mate, plus get some pics of the lights and tell us which pic the problem is !!!

To Dangerous Dave !!! - Mk3 and Mk4 are interchangable with each other ONLY !!! Its the same with Mk5a, Mk5b and Mk6, they will fit each other, Mk3 and 4 dont fit Mk5's or 6's and vice versa !!! To Sir Pip, there should me a nut on top of your pump mate, take it off and use a small funnel to top it up, as for the fluid, most steering and brake fluids should do, if in doubt get the grade from your user book or go to a motor factors !!! Later fellas !!!

If the fluid is OK check the rams, i know its a ball ache to get to them but the XR3i I got my setup out of, the guy said that the roof did the same as yours, one of the rams had popped off its pivot, a new cir clip will fix it !!!

I have the same problem with my Mk5a, if you have the same cab then listen up, I recon its the old favorite, the battery tray, plus, on the passenger door at the bottom you will see the join in the rubber seals, I think it might drip through there !!! But look on the bright side, the rear foot well is always clean, and rear passengers can wash there feet lol !!!!

Yes it is a Mk5a !!! EXCELLENT !!! I got EVERYTHING for the roof, I left all the crap under the dash as it was too much of a head ache to wire it to factory spec, but I got everything else, the pivot pins for the rams, all the circ clips, and around 20 of the hydro-pipe fixings, they are the plastic C shaped efforts that screw on to the threaded bolts that run down both sides of the boot, I even got the boot trim that goes over the pump and the trim plugs from all the carpet in the boot lol, should look tidy !!!

I'm going to find doing this a lot easyer as I have all the relays and the thermal cut out on the pump but I don't have all the garbge under the dash board, when I fit the power roof I just need to fit the switch, connect it to the live and earth it, well, thats the plan lol !!!

A whole roof is easyer to do than just the outer skin !!!

You can get amps that don't need a pre-out from the head unit, check out my diagram below !!! Its a bit basic but hay, I only know haw to use paint brush lol !!! Hope it helps mate, keep us all posted, get some pics up too !!!

Thats a supporting bulkhead Neil, I don't know if it is wise to cut into it !!! I know someone on here did that, but i'm not sure who, best just upgrading the factory speakerd in the rear pods, or adapt the rear pods to hold 6x9's !!! I have the same problem, as do most of us but hay, I like a challenge lol !!!

Could always try getting it looked at by a Car Auto Glass fitter, not Auto Glass as they are ripoff merchants by me, try a private firm !!! Hope you get it sorted !!!

My 1993 Mk5a has dead locks as well as the central locking, immobiliser and alarm, its all factory fitted, it even comes with a Ford Certificate too !!! Check a Haynes for the diagram !!!
